Excited about all the flowers on this Tahoka daisy (𝘔𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘢 𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘢). Perennials started this spring might not bloom this year. This annual is really showing off.

There are native iris, but this is not one of them. Dr. Gary Larson gave me this one when I moved to Brookings. Gary was on the search committee that hired me. He was a great friend, mentor, and role model. I will miss him. And now there is more pressure to not kill the iris.
Just plant and go, no irrigation. It’s all about the roots. More roots= higher survival. 𝘈𝘨𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘶𝘮 (anise hyssop or blue giant hyssop)

Productive day, despite the wind. Two species down, 7 to go. Approx 2,000 Geum triflorum and 200 Penstemon albidus are in the ground.
