Our National Principals Month spotlights continue with Shonda Honor-Harris, Principal of St. Rose Elementary School! 🏫 As we celebrate this month's 7 Mindsets theme, Passion First, we're highlighting what inspired our principals to pursue education and what continues to motivate them today. We're also taking a look back at where their journeys began with photos from early in their careers alongside photos from today! In Her Own Words: "My passion for education was sparked by the strong foundation my parents and family built at home and the standard of excellence I experienced in SCPPS. Growing up in a supportive household where my parents gave me their absolute best showed me firsthand how transformational high expectations and unwavering support can be. What keeps that passion burning daily as a principal is a simple, human truth: every single student, teacher, and family deserves to feel seen, appreciated, and important. Education is my way of serving others—paying forward the incredible foundation I was given by ensuring our school is a place where excellence meets empathy, and where everyone knows they truly belong." Join us in celebrating Ms. Honor-Harris and the positive impact she makes on the St. Rose Elementary School community! 👏 #YouAndIWeAreSCPPS #PassionFirst #YouBelongHere📍

Our National Principals Month spotlights continue with Jason Madere, Principal of Destrehan High School! 🏫🐾 As we celebrate this month's 7 Mindsets theme, Passion First, we're highlighting what inspired our principals to pursue education and what continues to motivate them today. We're also taking a look back at where their journeys began with photos from early in their careers alongside photos from today! In His Own Words: "My passion for education was sparked by my love of science and by everything I learned from being part of something bigger than myself as a football and baseball player at DHS with the class of 1994. What keeps that passion strong today is the community we live in, the opportunities we are able to provide our students that many public schools simply cannot, and the incredible people I get to work alongside every day. There is just something different about the halls of Destrehan High School, and I’m proud to be a part of it." Join us in celebrating Mr. Madere and the positive impact he makes on the Destrehan High School community! 👏 #YouAndIWeAreSCPPS #PassionFirst #YouBelongHere📍

Aubree's Dream Foundation hosted its first event, a Sensory-Friendly STEM Night. This nonprofit was founded by one of our Destrehan High School seniors, Benjamin Hall. This organization works to strengthen community bonds by offering accessible learning opportunities for individuals with special needs. Students and families enjoyed hands-on activities while exploring scientific topics and learning about their senses in a calm, welcoming setting. Thank you to everyone who supported this meaningful event for our community. Our National Principals Month spotlights continue with Jose Gonzales, Principal of Hahnville High School! 🏫🐯 As we celebrate this month's 7 Mindsets theme, Passion First, we're highlighting what inspired our principals to pursue education and what continues to motivate them today. We're also taking a look back at where their journeys began with photos from early in their careers alongside photos from today! In His Own Words: "Being from a military family, I moved around a lot, and school became a place that gave me some stability, structure, and a sense of belonging. I think that’s a big part of what sparked my passion for education. What keeps it going is knowing that, for some of our students, school can be that same place for them—a place where they feel supported, challenged, and know that people believe in them."
