This is the statement issued by the Met Police about the Defend Our Juries demonstration today. Commander Adam Slonecki, from Scotland Yard, said: “All those intending on coming to this event know that supporting a proscribed organisation is unlawful – they are essentially meeting to purposefully commit a crime.” This is a remarkable contrual of the law and extent of police powers. Surely it cannot be right that someone protesting against the Government’s decision to proscribe an organisation is automatically interpreted by the Met Police as supporting that organisation and is therefore committing an arrest-able offence. This is especially the case when the proscription is being challenged in the courts. I believe the government and parliament made the wrong decision in proscribing Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation and I continue to call for its deproscription by the government. If the people turning up today to demonstrate against the proscription of Palestine Action are to be arrested for simply turning up, are we all to be criminalised for suggesting the government got this wrong?

This is the slightly more genteel, Green Party version of what the PLP, Labour Together and the party bureaucracy did to Corbyn. This isn't complicated. If every time large numbers of, primarily young, idealistic people become enthused by politics and seek to engage in the political process you tell them go away, you are not wanted and call them entryists - it is really, really bad for democracy. thetimes.com/uk/politics/art…

Opposing the slaughter of small children is popular. Funny that.

Be warned - if the police have reasonable grounds to suspect you might be the sort of person who'd hand a bottle of water to an elderly lady holding a sign - they have the power to order you out of central London today.
A Section 35 dispersal order will be in place in parts of central London from 8am to 11pm today. This is following information that a group are planning to attend an event and express support for a proscribed organisation, which is an offence under the Terrorism Act. The order will apply to the area outlined in the below map and means officers can order a person to leave the area or face arrest, where certain conditions apply. Updates on today's policing operation will be posted on this thread.

This woman continues to be invited on to the BBC as a pundit.
melaniephillips.substack.com… Whether motivated by hatred of National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir or corrupt funding by Qatar, the huge mobilisation of Israeli Arabs at this election was the democratic version of the “Al-Aqsa Flood” of October 7. In both Israel and the West, public bamboozlement is so great that deliriously energised Islamists believe they’re now within sight of victory over both. To prevent that, governments in Israel, Britain and America need to wake up to the jihadi threat they are facing.

Declassified UK wants to make it absolutely clear that we will not allow people to smear our media organisation with baseless accusations without consequence and that we reserve the right to take legal action against them.
You clearly have no idea what you are talking about Sangita on this. Declassified are not journalists, they are antisemitic political activists Big difference

IT'S NOT TOO LATE This Saturday hundreds of people will be outside the US Embassy in London with signs reading "I oppose genocide, I support Palestine Action". Missed last night's open call? It's not too late to get involved. Visit wedonotcomply.org for more information.

The absence of any kind of radical Burnhamite programme in the budget is only surprising if you believed he had one. As I wrote months ago, that’s not who Burnham is. He’s a connection politician not a conviction politician. By their budgets shall ye know them and now we know.

The Israeli election proves definitively a) that a clear majority of Jewish Israelis are psychotically racist and b) the opposition will only oust the psychotically racist right by allying with Palestinians which they won't do because ... see point a).

"Jewish Israeli and Palestinian Israeli parties teaming up to form a coalition is seen as a political taboo – particularly after anti-Arab sentiment rose in the wake of the October 7 attacks" Gdn-speak to describe a political system is that deeply racist and normally works on the understanding that Palestinian votes don't count. theguardian.com/world/live/2…

This is frankly disgusting from @TiceRichard. Solidarity with @declassifiedUK who are a superb journalistic outlet and put Britain's mainstream media to shame.
Declassified are a deeply antisemitic organisation who bully and intimidate their opponents

As Peter Oborne forecast on Double Down Newswatch - it looks as if Israel's opposition may be forced, kicking and screaming, into coalition with Palestinian parties.

Israel going to the polls changes NOTHING for Palestinians. Western media treats the election as a contest between Netanyahu’s far-right coalition and a "moderate" opposition. In reality, the alternative to Netanyahu is an alliance of generals and hardliners who have driven the exact same machinery of violence and dispossession for decades: Gadi Eisenkot: The opposition frontrunner who formulated the Dahiya doctrine—mandating the deliberate, disproportionate destruction of civilian infrastructure. He sat in the war cabinet over Gaza and dismissed ICC war crimes investigations as "antisemitism." Yair Lapid: The supposed centrist whose stated principle is "maximum Jews on maximum land with minimum Palestinians." Avigdor Lieberman: Declared "there are no innocents in Gaza" while cutting off water, power, and food. Naftali Bennett: Boasted on record, "I have killed many Arabs in my life, and there is no problem with that." As Peter Oborne reports from the West Bank, an opposition victory might actually be far more dangerous internationally. It would provide Western allies with the diplomatic PR cover they crave to drop pressure, restore impunity, and pretend Israel is back to being a "rules-based democracy." Meanwhile, on the ground: State-armed settlers continue expelling Palestinian communities at gunpoint. Demolitions across East Jerusalem accelerate unabated. Human rights bodies document systemic, industrial torture across detention camps. The ballot box in Tel Aviv is not a choice between occupation and peace. It is a choice between overt extremism under Netanyahu and an internationally sanitized version of the exact same apartheid state under his rivals.
