Keith Jarrett’s solo performance of “Over the Rainbow” in Tokyo in 1984 is widely regarded as one of the most outstanding and moving piano solo covers of all time. Rather than simply restating the familiar melody, the legendary pianist infused the piece with new life through his brilliant improvisation, refined harmonic structure, and profound emotional depth.

A fine & fitting obituary for the late, great Douglas Dunn. Inscribed still on my memory is a dinner @univofstandrews more than 20yrs ago with Douglas, Marina Warner, Robert Crawford. 1st time I met DD & within an hour he was like an old friend. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cqde…

That is exactly what we need to hear more about. It's the silent, shy, professional majority who are really bringing joy to classrooms and lives.

There is excellent work going on but my experience is that teachers so often do not want to draw attention to what they do. Despite everything we hear, there is a core of wonderful work going on in our schools.

Fabulous Phoenix Hub INSET today with @JeanGrossCBE focussing on building belonging and the importance of oracy for all but especially our most vulnerable children. How deliberate and intentional are our strategies and do they allow every child to feel seen? @SGlosAll @CCHPri

If you've never read Douglas Dunn start with his Elegies - but brace yourself because they are beautiful and heart wrenching. I loved his first collection too - Terry Street.
Sad news to hear that the great poet Douglas Dunn has passed away. He was my hero at art school when I was a poetry obsessed student. It was one of the great honors of my life that he agreed to sit for me in the 1980s which produced this painting first shown in the @NPGLondon and toured round the UK and found a permanent home in the @HullFerens where his first, late wife had been director. artuk.org/discover/artworks/…

I’ve posted a child’s poem daily for a month. Katya’s incantation seems a great way to end. Magical. I’ll put them all into a PDF so you can have the series plus a few extra notes.

On the power of oracy: I find it strange that some of those supposedly most committed to 'research' are so unwilling to acknowledge research that doesn't match their view. This from @EducEndowFoundn. Also Nystrand et al, Simon Burgess et al & others. educationendowmentfoundation…

This is a poem.
GBSpews ranting about little children getting education from the BBC, calling them far-left. I tell you now, that channel needs taking off air.
