Apart from some small pockets of criticism, the press was largely silent
Now imagine the media response if an older male celebrity made a similar comment about a younger female celebrity
When derogatory generalisations are made about women we are more likely to see the media fly into outrage & cite misogyny compared to when derogatory generalisations are made about men when the media are comparatively more likely to stay silent or actively support the comments
‘Teacher who sexually abused 12 pupils jailed for four years’
Seems they were all boys but as is common with the BBC, they omitted this from the headline
