Remember when Trump just said, “Russia is doing very little, if anything, to help the Islamic Republic of Iran”? Doesn't exactly sound like Trump knows what he's talking about, does it?

The Trump admin's secret deal with a Venezuelan billionaire's private company will reportedly cement the power of those handpicked by the administration to govern and profit from Venezuelan oil. You bet that raises transparency and corruption concerns. propublica.org/article/trump…

THIS ISN’T A FRINGE PROTEST: Voters will face 34 data-center ballot measures this November. 31 were put there by citizen petitions. And every data-center measure that went before voters earlier this year favored TIGHTER restrictions. Americans aren’t rejecting technology. They’re rejecting their lives being bulldozed by it. Yet #RepublicansLoveDataCenters because they are getting rich AF and YOU are paying for it. Source: tinyurl.com/bdzk8284

Nine FBI agents investigated the classified documents Trump took to Mar-a-Lago. Kash Patel fired all nine. He told Congress it followed "internal investigations." Their lawsuit says there weren't any. Someone's lying to Congress, and I’d bet it’s not the agents.

NEW: "You know Trump will do anything...he thinks he can get away with, he'll do it and see if somebody stops him." Trump has refused to concede to the electoral reality in the past, and there's reason to believe he would try again. But can he get away with it? demdock.com/4ixfqdr

Replying to @NFLPA @AllbrightNFL
The NFLPA is calling for a full investigation into Jalen Hurts’ medical care after saying the NFL told the union it had no plans to review it. Glad to see the union pushing for answers. Player safety deserves transparency and accountability.

Let’s talk about the Chris Maragos case… aka the one where a Philly jury hit Eagles doctors with a $43.5 million verdict for negligently ending a Super Bowl captain’s career. Maragos tore his PCL (with meniscus issues) in a 2017 game vs. the Panthers. Dr. James Bradley (longtime Steelers doc) did the surgery; Rothman Orthopaedics (Eagles team docs) handled rehab. Plaintiffs argued the meniscus wasn’t properly addressed and rehab was advanced too aggressively (including running) despite a 2018 MRI showing persistent problems. That caused further damage and forced retirement in 2019. Defense said the meniscus was stable and more surgery would have done more harm than good. After a two-week trial (Nick Foles, Trey Burton, and Jordan Hicks testified), the jury found negligence in under three hours. Liability: Bradley 67% ($29.2M), Rothman 33% ($14.3M). An economist put lost earnings at ~$8.7M as the floor; the rest reflected pain, limitations, and future care. The verdict was upheld on appeal in 2024. Maragos’ lawyer put it bluntly: it forces team doctors to stop focusing only on “when can he return to play” and start thinking about the next 50 years of a player’s life.
Fun fact, players have sued team doctors for negligent return-to-play decisions (ex-Eagles captain Chris Maragos won $43.5M over his knee care). As a very disappointed Eagles fan, I’m enraged. Hurts was in the hospital until 4 am, told not to sleep because of the clot risk, then cleared to play in London. Now it’s DVT + bilateral pulmonary emboli and he’s out for the season on blood thinners. Granted I’m no doctor, but I wouldn’t be surprised if his career is over because of this. There are some serious questions around that initial medical call that need to be looked at. Health first for Jalen.

Elon’s bullshit posts now appear to be running as political ads on his own platform. Apparently, owning X still doesn’t give the manchild enough reach. These ads are being served to users in the EU, which appears to violate X’s own political advertising policy.

🇺🇦🇺🇸‼️ Ukraine Lost Dozens of Strike Drones Worth Over $1 Million Due to Sudden Restrictions on U.S. Starshield — The New York Times A Ukrainian commander said drones were losing contact with their operators and starting to fall during attacks on Russian targets. His units were forced to almost completely cease combat operations for three days. The restrictions also made it difficult for Ukrainian interceptor drones to be used against Russian drones.

While folks split hairs over whether Trump or Musk is guilty of something or other, and pledge to “get to the bottom of it” and “hold them accountable,” they are racing to do a dozen more things together. Pay attention.
We are inside the OODA loop. Outrage won’t fix this, and they know it. Congress can investigate Musk or Trump or Rubio or Hegseth all day long, but even getting that setup will take days or weeks. It will require staff frantically requesting documents and comms that won’t be provided. By the time any such hearing produces its very first soundbite, there will be a half dozen new outrages. Will those be investigated? There aren’t enough staffers in the world to run down all the egregious violations. OODA loop: Observe, Orient, Decide, Act — the attention cycle employed by fighter pilots, described by Col. John Boyd. Fighter pilots have a tight, fast OODA loop that takes just a few seconds. Congress runs at about 5-7 days at absolute minimum. The way the adversary (Putin, Musk, Trump) advances in this scenario is to act faster than the OODA loop, which isn’t all that hard. But acceleration shows an intent to escape circumstances and consequence. To beat this kind of adversary you need to shut down their ability to act inside the OODA loop and also anticipate their next moves. Washington isn’t cut out for this, especially going into the languid nothing-gets-done election and holiday season. So, if we want to interrupt this collapse, we need to select for moves that produce rapid outcomes, even if imperfect. That suggests court actions (TRO’s etc) vs slow Congressional inquiries. Or both in parallel. But don’t fantasize this is going to get fixed quickly without a lot of other simultaneous attacks. They are inside the OODA loop and they know it.

** JUST IN ** A New Mexico judge has ordered Meta to pay $25B today (yes, you heard that number correctly) for deceiving users about its data privacy practices (translation - the f*ckers used the data and lied). New Mexico had sued Meta in 2021 over the whole Cambridge Analytica scandal, saying the social media company had misled users with its public statements about its data privacy (translation: nothing that they said was private, actually was). After a two-week trial, a jury ruled against Meta, saying the company committed 43M violations of consumer protection laws. Today, Judge Francis J. Mathew of the State District Court in Santa Fe issued the landmark penalty.
