Here, Brayden works with his instructor to learn a new technique that helps him stay oriented along the edge of a sidewalk. #BlindnessAwarenessMonth

A worn-out #WhiteCane tip can make it harder to travel safely. But how do #Blind or #LowVision students know when it’s time to replace it?
Perkins #OrientationAndMobility Specialist Caroline created this simple tool that lets students feel the difference.
The world isn’t always designed with people with disabilities in mind.
That’s why young adults like Everett learn #OrientationAndMobility skills to navigate their community with a #WhiteCane, a globally recognized mobility tool and symbol of blindness and visual impairment.
“I go to a blind school where I’m with blind individuals, but some blind students haven’t been with other blind students before. To see those connections and be part of that community and those connections is really special,” says Perkins student Declan after his 4th Space Camp.
Every child deserves to feel included and supported.💙
This month, when you make a gift to Perkins, we’ll send you an exclusive dark blue sticker featuring "I believe in disability inclusion" in both #Braille and print.
