In part 1 of this speech PBP member and Affordable Ireland organizer Maggie O'Kane outlines issues around Homelessness,
Rents and Data Centres.
Currently there are over 18,000 people homeless and living in emergency accommodation.
5830 of those are children.

The housing crisis is manufactured
How else would we still have empty homes everywhere, like these 20 in Macroom, we've more short term lets than homes to rent, we've record numbers in emergency accommodation, rapid growth in homeless industry & so on..
This is deliberate policy
That @dunnesstores built 20 apartment homes over their store in Macroom to satisfy planning & then leave them empty for 18 years & counting & that's not seen as a bad brand or business decision in housing emergency
No doubt we have serious cultural challenges in #DerelictIreland

They're feeling the pressure now and the campaign is only getting started.
Put it to the people.
European Affairs Minister Thomas Byrne has hit back at former President Michael D. Higgins who accused the Government of being "less than honest" with regards to the removal of the triple lock.
Higgins said the move is a "preparatory move" towards military alliance.

"Which illegal wars do you want us to participate in?"
This decision around the Triple Lock should be put to the people in a referendum.
This vote last week is not the end. It still has to get through multiple stages of the Oireachtas.
#TripleLock #IrishNeutrality
These Cork politicians have decided they know better than you.
They voted for the removal of the Triple Lock, against the views of the majority of Irish people.
Removal of the Triple Lock does not preserve peace keeping missions, it enables the advancement of Western
Imperialist military powers and puts the lives of future generations at risk.
This fight is not over.
Hold them accountable.
Contact your local TD and tell them that Irish neutrality is not up for negotiation.
Let the people decide.

How these empty homes have been left stay empty for over 20 years by the local authorities and council is beyond me
But of course they are doing everything in their powers ... blah blah
This is very depressing
15,000, incl. 5000 children are homeless in Ireland & live in trauma everyday yet @dunnesstores continue to leave 20 apartment's empty in Macroom Co.Cork, 19 years after being built
This is a social crime
Use it or lose it

Got talking to Aidan at the massive picket at Tallaght Hospital about why he's out protesting today with his union and other workers.
The support from the public is overwhelming. A win for public sector workers is a win for all✊

Massive pickets at Tallaght Hospital and South Dublin County Council this morning.
The support from the public is overwhelming. If the government thinks it can divide private and public sector workers, they should think again.
A win for public sector workers is a win for all.

Union leaders should hold their nerve! Govt banked on workers turning on workers today. That has not happened.
There is huge support behind this strike. Chambers' budget offering does not come close to covering what workers need + deserve. Hold the line and victory is in reach!

Energy vampires and job robbers not welcome!
We were out between pickets protesting the government's 'International AI Summit', which is a red carpet event for Big Tech to drive policy on AI & Data Centres.
People Before Profit Cork stands in solidarity with Praxis, the Artist Union of Ireland, and in solidarity with all public sector workers that went on strike for better pay.
Although many artists, musicians, actors, and dancers are self-employed, recent Arts Council budget
constraints directly impact their livelihoods. We encourage everyone to support these strikes and demand a better deal for all workers! #SupportTheArts #Siptu #PraxisUnion

Hundreds of protestors staged a slow-drive demonstration against plans for a data centre in Waterford. A convoy of cars, tractors and vans set off in Kilmeaden to show their opposition to plans earlier today.

Affordability crisis.
Data Centres like this one will only pay 20c per KWh on average.
This Saturday at 11:00 AM we are having a coffee morning to discuss the expansion of the JCD Data Centre in Little Island.
We need a moratorium on Data Centres.
Come along for a chat, share
your concerns, and connect with organizers.
