I’ve been thinking about trust this week: personal trust, trust in brands and corporations, and trust in governments.
It’s built in small moments, through everyday interactions and choices. But it’s tested when it matters most.
For me, trust grows when values guide what we do. When we show up, follow through, and tell the truth, even when it’s uncomfortable. That’s as true for individuals as it is for institutions.
I also believe trust can be rebuilt. But not by pretending it was never broken. Repair starts with accountability, honest conversations, and consistent action rooted in the values we claim to hold.
We need to keep asking ourselves. Do our words, our actions, and our values align?
Trust is critical. It deserves to be defended, especially when doing so is difficult.

I see Jacinta posted a journalists number online, resulting in death threats, just because the journalist asked about the R12 million her and her husband are alleged to have made from the state.
Nothing says I'm innocent like death threats against journalists, Takalane Jacinta.
Thank you for pushing me to run this morning @victordlamini . I was feeling sorry for myself after my tendon niggle. Slow run he said, it bacame a moderate one. But was fun. Life is about family, friends, fun and fitness.
So I get a WhatsApp from @CityofJoburgZA for disconnection. I do not owe them a cent but they still want to discionnect. I have not missed a payment in 11 years, always paying on time. Also did not get a call.
Yet there are illegal connections consistently happening all over the city. Eish, is all I can say. Go after the people who pay, not the people who steal is the motto obviously.

Hey @TheGautrain What is happening on your lines lately? Last few days has been crazy.
Can you please get your issues sorted ASAP. Line got fixed quickly before it moved over to the Gauteng Department. Wonder if they looking for a “tender” to get it fixed?

The South Africa They Feared Was Not the South Africa They Found
This month, my son got married. It was an incredible occasion, not only because of what it meant to our family, but because it brought a small United Nations to South Africa.
We had guests arriving from the United States, Canada, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Norway and Switzerland. Some had visited before. For most, this was their first time.
And before they arrived, many were frightened.

Can we talk about how we normalised no street lights in Gauteng?
Fancy neighbourhoods and townships alike.

Dear @FlySafair I flew on FA115 at 19:35. On the flight, there were no sandwiches available. I sort of get it. It was a late flight. It happens. Three days later, I flew on SA299 at 10:15 in the morning. Again, there were no sandwiches available. That's unacceptable and disorganized, and a F@&* you to your passengers. There must be data available in order to work out the volumes of sandwiches on each flight. So either get your system sorted or allow me to bring food in from outside. Not cool.
Spent some incredible time with friends from Europe and the USA. Most were apprehensive about coming to South Africa because of the negative publicity we get.
After a few days they could not stop raving about our country, our people, our food.

Just a moment to appreciate how immaculate Gandhi Square in the CBD is. It has become quite the attraction. You’ll always see people here posing for photos, cycling or walking through, like me when I took these. Joburg has all the possibilities and potential 🤩

🇿🇦Our economy can’t bear electricity tariffs increasing by 8,8% with inflation at 4,3%; population growth at 1,1%; GDP growth at 1,2%; and unemployment at 33,6% . We’ll end up being controlled by creditors - then you’ll see real poverty!🇿🇦
