We thank God that the surgery on Pope Leo was, by all accounts, successful, & that he continues his recovery & recuperation. I join with people from all corners of this archdiocese, across the country & around the world in keeping the Holy Father in our prayers. Archbishop Hicks

Dear friends, during some recent medical examinations, the doctors found a small, localized nodule in my lung. It was detected at a very early stage and is well-localized. The doctors believe that it is best to intervene, so, following their advice, I have decided to undergo surgery to remove it. The operation is already scheduled to take place in the coming days. I thank you for your spiritual closeness and entrust myself to your prayers.

Today is a day of celebration! We observe Respect Life Sunday and mark 800 years since the death of St. Francis of Assisi, whose life reminds us to care for God’s creation. All we do is in the name of Jesus Christ!

Today — on the eighth centenary of his death — I wish to recall a laborer who worked with great fruitfulness in the Lord’s vineyard: Saint Francis of Assisi, whom Jesus Himself asked to repair His Church.
