Pornography doesn’t exist in a vacuum. The messages we consume can shape how we see others, what we expect from relationships, and what the next generation learns about women. What happens when the man making decisions about your career regularly consumes content that objectifies women? When porn shapes expectations about intimacy in your relationship? When boys turn to pornography to learn about sex and how to treat women? Research has found associations between pornography consumption and lower relationship satisfaction, as well as links between adolescent pornography use and gender-stereotypical sexual beliefs.

These conversations matter because the effects of pornography can extend beyond the individual viewer. It’s time to challenge the idea that what happens on a screen stays there. Congress failed to pass the Kids Online Safety Act, leaving children vulnerable while online platforms continue to profit. NCOSE President Richie Hamm writes in @TheHill about what this failure means for child safety and why Congress must act.

Sharing a deeply personal story takes courage, especially when the fear of being judged has kept you silent for decades. In this moving account, Jennifer Johnson, a paralegal with the NCOSE Law Center, shares for the first time how she was raped by someone she trusted while in college. She reflects on the fear, shame, and self-doubt that kept her from reporting the assault, and why she is speaking out now: to help others understand that survivors should never be judged for how they respond to trauma or when they choose to share their stories.

Child safety and sexual exploitation prevention go hand in hand. At the Montana Summit, we discussed the overlap between these issues and introduced the Child Protection App, an important tool in the fight to better protect children. Thank you to the @MontanaChamber for the opportunity!

These girls are fighting to ban school uniforms from being sexualized in pornography, and we stand with them. ✊💙 Teenage girls shouldn’t have to fight to stop their childhood from being sexualized. We’re proud of these students for speaking out and demanding change.

Survivors should NEVER have to choose between their safety and their right to seek justice. A federal court ruling forced a trafficking survivor to choose between publicly revealing her identity or abandoning her lawsuit. She chose safety. Now, thanks to the National Center on Sexual Exploitation @NCOSE that ruling has been overturned on appeal. This is why survivor protections matter. Our justice system must never become another barrier for those courageous enough to come forward. Protecting survivors isn't optional. It's fundamental to justice. #SurvivorRights #HumanTrafficking #NCOSE #Untrafficked

What do misogynistic jokes, pornography culture, and rape culture have in common? The way society teaches us to view women. When Shane Gillis jokes that women wearing shorts to the gym are wh*res, the punchline relies on shaming women for their bodies and sexuality. Meanwhile, pornography and OnlyFans culture can reinforce the idea that women's bodies are products to consume and profit from.

One joke doesn't cause rape, and these things are not equivalent to sexual assault. But when degrading women becomes entertainment and sexual objectification becomes profitable, we must question the messages we're normalizing. The disturbing allegations and reported group-chat messages surrounding the Cornell case raise serious questions about what happens when women are treated as objects and degrading attitudes go unchallenged.
