Earlier this month, the @chargers community came together to pack 200 HOPE Kits for breast cancer patients being treated at UCLA Health! We had a great time meeting the staff, learning more about the impact of HOPE Kits, and coming together to support such an important cause.
The Chargers have longstanding ties to breast cancer awareness through the NFL’s Crucial Catch initiative and the advocacy of Susie Spanos, wife of Chargers Chairman and Owner Dean Spanos, and breast cancer survivor. We were grateful for the Chargers’ commitment to Crucial Catch through NBCF and helping bring a little hope to those going through treatment. 💗

Let’s talk dense breasts. Every breast has a different mix of breast tissue, including variations in the amounts of fatty and fibroglandular tissue. Dense breast tissue simply means there is more fibroglandular tissue.
On mammograms, dense breast tissue appears white. This can mask the detection of breast cancer, as abnormal breast changes and cancer also appear white on a mammogram.
Breast density itself is also an independent risk factor for breast cancer. This means women with dense breasts have a higher risk of developing breast cancer than women without dense breasts, and the risk increases with increasing breast density.
