Dalam rangka #HariBukuSedunia sa mau berbagi sedikit soal buku-buku Indonesia terbaik versi sa.
1. Burung-Burung Manyar oleh Y.B. Mangunwijaya
Berkisah tentang pergulatan seorang blasteran Indonesia-Belanda di masa perang kemerdekaan. Banyak diskusi tentang nasionalisme di sini.
Ada tuh podcaster ngaku2 wibu tapi pas ada bahasan Tokyo Godfathers malah sekedar tau/pernah denger aja enggak. Padahal yg bahas termasuk awam.

indonesian are too obsessed with the idea that a messianic-like figure will pop up and lead the people and save everyone
nobody is saving us. look at france they dont have a central figure in their protests. everyone going out because they actually care for one another.
1. Not many Indo diaspora overseas compared to Thais, Viets, Filipinos
2. No govt soft power support like Thailand
3. Too many regional variations to introduce, we usually resort to highlight few items: rendang, nasi goreng, sate ayam

But in all seriousness, the reaction from Japanese One Piece fans to people using the Straw Hat Jolly Roger in protests has been genuinely pissing me off. So many of them are more concerned about people bringing One Piece into real-life politics, calling it dangerous rhetoric and worrying that the series could get banned in certain countries, than they are about WHY people are even using it in the first place.
And I think this perfectly highlights the disconnect between Japanese fans and international fans. For some of them, One Piece is a manga they love and want to protect from controversy. For a lot of us, its themes of oppression, corruption, government tyranny and the fight for freedom hit a little closer to home. Some of us have lived through these things. Some of us have watched our families and loved ones suffer and die because of corrupt governments and injustice.
They can afford to treat these themes as fiction because they donโt necessarily have to relate them to their own reality. But when people who have experienced these things firsthand see the Straw Hat flag as a symbol of resistance and freedom, why is theyโre first reaction to police how other fans use it rather than understand why it resonates with them in the first place?
And thatโs what bothers me. Instead of trying to understand why people from completely different backgrounds see themselves in this story, theyโre dismissing it as dangerous political rhetoric that might get one piece banned in these countries

Greta Thunberg raises awareness of the Kalimantan fires and haze crisis:
โThe fires and haze crisis is far from over. As terrifying as this footage is, the reality on the ground is much worse than what you see on social media. 2 million acres of forests have been destroyed by fires. Animals have been burned alive, people are dying and suffocating, villagers have lost their forests and rubber trees, firefighters have died, and 277,075 people have been hospitalized due to acute respiratory infections, including 62,400 children under the age of five. This situation has been ongoing for four months. Please continue to support by donating today to Borneoโs Fires and Haze Crisis Fundraising Campaign to help firefighters, build more haze shelters to protect people, especially children and vulnerable groups, and save the remaining forests.โ

"Aku netral di permasalahan Palestina dan Israel, bukan berarti aku mendukung penindasan yang dilakukan oleh Israel sih...emangnya harus banget dukung Palestina biar ga dicap zionis?"

Percaya de, lo gak akan liat "Orang Netral" bersuara ketika si Penindas lagi menindas.
Sebaliknya, ketika si Tertindas lagi ngelawan, lo akan liat mantra2 kontol kayak:
"Bukan membela... tapi ini berlebihan gak sih?"
"Dua2nya salah.. tapi..."
"Paham sih klo kesel, tapi..."

Itโs well known that Bleachโs Soul Society arc shares DNA with Saint Seiyaโs Sanctuary arc. Both follow a small group fighting through a tiered hierarchy of elite guardians, the Gotei 13 Captains vs. the 12 Gold Saints,on a deadline to rescue a captive ally
โThe key difference is the mythological foundation: Saint Seiya draws heavily from Greek mythology (Athena and her Saints protecting humanity), while Bleach roots its world in Japanese folklore, Shinto, and Buddhist motifs
โTaking structural inspiration isn't copying. it's executing a classic formula with an entirely unique identity
Nah for real, the post-COVID otakus and weebs are indifferent & incurious af. They're even actively avoiding or dissing older stuff for some reason
