Had a great time with @BMitchandFinlay yesterday talking @WashWizards, @Capitals, @CapitalOneArena, @dcck and more. Thanks for having me!

Today’s announcement that this will be Alex Ovechkin’s final NHL season is deeply personal for me, my family, and our organization. At the same time, there is so much excitement and anticipation for our season and the opportunity we have to celebrate Alex, appreciate every moment, and enjoy watching him do what he does best one more season. I’ve known Alex for more than 21 years, and over that time, we’ve shared so many memorable moments. Just like so many of our fans, I’ve had the incredible privilege of watching his career unfold up close and seeing the impact he has had not only on our organization, but also on our city, our fans, and the game of hockey itself. As we look ahead to Wednesday’s home opener, I’m excited to begin this final season and to witness and appreciate everything Alex will bring to the ice. Just like Alex, I want to cherish every game and every moment of his final season. There will be plenty of time to reflect on his career and everything he has meant to us, but for now, I want to focus on the opportunity we have in front of us: one more season to watch Alex Ovechkin do what he has done better than anyone in the history of this game. We have the privilege of watching a generational talent, the longest-tenured athlete in D.C., and the greatest goal scorer this game has ever seen take the ice for our organization, our city, and our community. I know this season will be emotional, but it will also be a celebration of Ovi, of everything he has accomplished, and of the incredible journey we’ve been fortunate enough to share with him. I look forward to appreciating every moment of this final season alongside Alex, our fans, and everyone who has been part of this incredible journey.
