This is smart from @ZohranKMamdani. Americans increasingly view AI as a direct threat to their livelihood, and tying that in with the dignity of work is a political winner.
Replying to @ZohranKMamdani
@ZohranKMamdani on AI: "Out of purpose comes dignity. "If we see the erasure of purpose of all these different kinds of jobs, we have a larger conversation to have about the dignity of that work for those who are left to still be employed." From our people's town hall with @AINowInstitute

Lina Khan on AI: "These are individuals that have become used to a certain level of impunity, elite impunity that I think we've talked about in the past as being a broader cultural, social phenomena that results when we're not holding the rich and the powerful to the same rules and the same standards that we do to everybody else. I think there are a lot of magazine profiles and other assessments looking at what these individuals as a personal matter and their character. I think to me, some of that is a little bit less interesting than this basic question of: Who is deciding in the first instance what trajectory these technologies take? And whenever you have a tiny number of elites getting to call the shots around this potentially transformational technology, that is gonna be dangerous even if you have the most benevolent, well-meaning people in the driver's seat. It really comes down to the concentration of power." From our people's town hall with @AINowInstitute

Oligarchs who are friendly to Trump, and finance his schemes, can get away with anything under this administration.
In the last few days it's been revealed that the Trump admin closed an investigation into @Meta for selling drugs to children & one into @Google-acquihired @character_ai for harvesting kids' data. This is what these companies get in return for financing Trump's ballroom and god knows what else. Massive corruption before our eyes, and Dems must investigate this when we take back the gavel.

It's a publicly reported fact, disclosed by Trump himself, that he’s gotten $2.5 billion richer since taking office again.
.@VP: "It's laughable to me, the idea that Donald Trump has somehow been enriched by political office. He nearly had his life destroyed by his quest to become President!"

We have a lot more power than the AI companies expect us to have. That’s why some data center projects are being blocked. And since we have laws on the books to hold these companies accountable, the laws now need to be enforced by those empowered to do so.
Zohran Mamdani:  "Let me first address the house-phishing example. This is what happens when realtors are using AI to generate images of apartments that are not actually on the market. It also speaks to this belief that we're seeing across many sectors, that if you use AI, then you are inhibited from the consequences of it... Lina Khan has spoken about this, which is that for all of this talk of AI as a technology of the future, it also obfuscates the fact that the laws of today can still be used to hold that technology accountable." A document unveiled in a court case appears to show Amazon using AI to track workers and rank how likely they are to form unions. The document has been released as part of court proceedings between Amazon and Canadian union Unifor. It shows Amazon using an AI tool dubbed "Atlas" to give warehouses a risk score of between 100 and 900 for union activity, with a lower score meaning it believes workers are more likely to unionize. A higher score is “better” for leaders at the company, the document says. novaramedia.com/2026/10/19/a…

This is terrifying. We are sleepwalking into a dystopia worse than anybody imagined.
NEW: Insiders at Meta and other companies leaked to us about bosses using AI to spy on them. In tech, AI spies on workers, copies their work, and trains bots to replace them. At a call center "Emotion AI" evaluates the way a nurse talks, and tells her she doesn't have empathy.

👇🏾"Cancerous buildout of hyperscale data centers" @MEM_Council say NO to Elon Musk and his AI empire poisoning your community. Moratorium NOW! 🗳️#TN09, vote for Justin Pearson to stop data centers and protect your community! 🇺🇸 @Justinjpearson
KeShaun Pearson on xAI's data center buildout in Memphis: “We continue to see what is a cancerous buildout of hyperscale data centers. We went from 1 to 4. We went from 15 gas turbines to over 50. And our communities which have been red lined are now facing another era of digital redlining" From our people's town hall with @AINowInstitute

@AnandWrites asks @linamkhan about how many of the same people who opposed her also popped up in the Epstein emails: "You told me something I won't forget. You said whether in one sphere of life or another, these are men who don't like to be told no." At our people's town hall with @AINowInstitute

Arundhati Roy on AI: These Big Tech companies are looking to replace the state and fuse themselves into the state, giving of course the shiny gifts of colonialism but taking away all forms of governance and all forms of freedom. In India a lot of labor is now required to wear a camera on their foreheads that is documenting their movements so that they will be replaced by robots.

Naomi Klein: So how do you treat surplus humanity? Your function then, you do have an economic function. It isn't to consume, and it isn't to work. It is to be surveilled, it is to be killed, as Arundhati just said. It's to be contained, to be scanned. And Israel has been running a experiment, since they sealed Gaza in about 20 years ago, built the wall, placed Gaza under siege, and they have been testing these technologies. So I mean this is why it's so absurd that we're saying, "Oh, something bad might happen in the future." We already have an AI-aided genocide in Palestine. So Gaza, Minneapolis, look at what is happening now in France. Like, look what would happen when young people in France stood up and said, "Fix the roof of our of our classroom instead of spending so much money on weapons." Like, that was their core demand: "We want to cool our classrooms instead of spending more and more of the French budget on the military," and look at the way the French state crushed them, right? So, that's a glimpse of the future. At our people's town hall with @AINowInstitute

Worst case AI scenario may not be all-powerful, ungovernable machines but a tiny group of all-powerful, ungovernable people. We ponder the sci-fi horror of civilization ending but should focus on the more plausible horror of a society divided into haves and have-nots, forever.

Zohran Mamdani on AI: “We’re seeing such a reckless adoption of technology without any kid of a reckoning with the limitations of that technology. We’re seeing reports of our military killing Iranian schoolchildren and then a Pentagon investigation making it clear that an overreliance on AI was part of the killing of more than 100 schoolchildren. There is this desire to speak about it as if it’s infallible, as if it cannot be questioned, as if the only people who can regulate it are the ones who are currently developing it”

Lorena Gonzalez of the California Federation of Labor Unions on getting harmful AI tech banned before they spread too far: "Let's prohibit it before it becomes, too big to fail, if you will, till employers say we can't live without this, which we almost were too late... And it should've been obvious, and I can't even believe it was a fight, but we had a bill say: no bosses in the bathroom. You know, it's always been the law that your boss cannot videotape you or audiotape you in the bathroom, but guess what? AI has a lot of ways to monitor you in the bathroom, including heat mapping and everything else. And guess what? I don't care, Amazon. You can no longer do that in any bathroom in California."
