"The SEC claims it is ending this practice because the rule exceeds its statutory authority and is expensive. Its reasoning ignores 80 years of history. And keeping the rule is actually the more fiscally conservative route." @MindyLubber forbes.com/sites/mindylubber… @ForbesOpinion

This NEW analysis examines how more than 800 global institutional investors are acting on nature and biodiversity loss and where policy can unlock more action. It provides recommendations that can help policymakers unlock greater private finance and reduce nature-related risks to economies and financial systems, accelerating the transition to a global economy that safeguards nature and long-term prosperity. The Trump administration's decision to weaken CAFE standards won't fix affordability or strengthen the U.S. auto industry — it will do the opposite, raising costs and deepening the affordability crisis gripping the country. Read more: ceres.org/resources/news/wea… #FuelEconomyStandards

Financing the clean energy transition is one of the defining economic opportunities of this generation. ⚡🗽 Joining @CeresNews CEO @MindyLubber and @govkathyhochul on the Climate Week NYC main stage, discussions centered on unlocking capital for real-world deployment and grid reliability. Proving that fiduciary duty and climate action reinforce each other, the three net-zero pension funds have delivered strong annual returns over the past three years while actively deploying roughly $13.5B toward the $38B climate solutions goal. 📈

1/2 A data center's largest water demand isn't for cooling in the facility — it's at the power plants supplying it with electricity. New Ceres analysis: 7 states with ~half of U.S. data centers use 3.4 trillion gallons of water/year for power generation alone.

2/2 With huge swaths of the U.S. facing moderate or severe drought and AI demand not slowing down, we need to plan and power data centers so they don't compromise community water supplies. My take on what we can do in Forbes: forbes.com/sites/mindylubber… #DataCenters #WaterRisk #AI

Water for power generation could account for 72% of total #datacenter water use by 2030, even as facilities adopt more efficient cooling & reclaimed water. Our report digs into this risk and outlines how to support responsible AI dev in US that doesn't drain local water supplies.
⚠️ NEW REPORT⚠️ While data center companies typically focus on the amount of water they use to cool the technology running within their facilities, the water used for power generation to meet their massive energy needs has an even greater impact. Our new report, Water Behind the Watts, examines this largely overlooked water demand across seven states that together host about half of all U.S. data centers. In these states, water-intensive generation supplies much of the grid—and many of the plants supplying that power are in regions facing water stress or drought. When comes to the municipal bond market, can investors really price the risk? Our new report analyzed 60 recent bond offerings from issuers in 20 U.S. metropolitan areas with the highest physical-risk exposure and found that municipal bond disclosures are not consistently providing investors with the information they need to assess and price climate-related financial risks, including those associated with extreme weather. Climate risk is financial risk. The SEC rescinding the climate disclosure rule leaves investors in the dark and increases uncertainty for companies. @CeresNews has weighed in and you can too. Add your voice before August 3. #ClimateDisclosure #SEC
The SEC is moving forward with its plan to rescind the corporate climate disclosure rule. This first-of-its-kind rule would require public companies operating in the U.S. to disclose their climate risks in their financial filings. Today, Ceres submitted public comments opposing this misguided action (read more here: ceres.org/resources/news/cer…). Investors are also voicing their concerns through public comment letters. Here's what some of them said: “My objection to this rescission is grounded in the practical, daily work of allocating capital. Specifically, investors cannot price what is not disclosed. Climate risk is financial risk, and material risk belongs in securities filings.” Kristin Hull, Ph.D., Founder & CIO, Nia Impact Capital “Climate-related financial risk sits in our portfolio whether or not companies disclose it. What disclosure determines is whether we manage that risk with reliable information or with estimates and guesswork. Uniform disclosure remains the only way to get reliable information across a broad portfolio, and that information is how we manage the risk on behalf of our beneficiaries.” Elizabeth Steiner, Oregon State Treasurer You also have a voice in this debate and can submit your own comments. The deadline to submit a comment letter to the SEC is August 3. Submit comments here: sec.gov/comments/s7-2026-19/…
