🐁 Mouse models are typically used in studies on the microbiota-gut-brain axis -- but can primate models help accelerate what scientists know? Check out this first-of-its-kind study on the behavioral effects of depleting the gut microbiota in marmosets.

Thrilled to see this interview covering the work that Dr. Kiraly presented at our 2023 conference!
Our interview with Drew Kiraly, MD PhD of Wake Forest University describes a paper providing insight into the role of gut microbes in cocaine seeking and using behavior. See the paper here: buff.ly/3TksoiT

Closing off #MMM2023 with a walk behind the venue
I met great people from academia, industry, and clinical settings, heard about really cool methods and research, and came away really inspired by the scientific energy and curiosity!
See you next time @MindMicrobes

What a fantastic conference @MindMicrobes #MMM2023!!! Thanks to the organizers. Already looking forward to the next meeting.
PS. If in Amsterdam, check out Micropia @Micropia. Great place to learn about microbes and science in general; so interactive. Highly recommended!

Great talk @MindMicrobes in Amsterdam by our lead bioinformatician @Thomazsan on his new open source tool for circadian rhythm analysis of microbiome data #mmm2023 @Pharmabiotic #cryanlab
Final talk of #MMM2023 -- Olaf Larsen with a whirlwind tour of the future of interventional strategies targeting the gut microbiota, from responders/nonresponders to fecal transplant analogues (microbial guilds) to a "one health" perspective on managing microbial diversity.
Next in the session on new methods and tools, Thomasz Bastiaanssen describes "Kronos", a free tool for analysis of circadian rhythms in gut-brain axis research. He encourages more study of temporal dynamics of the microbiome.
@thomaszsan
Lena Sophie Koch is here to describe a useful model system: a microbiome-gut-brain axis on a microfluidic chip.
The model allows interrogation of multi-organ interactions. #MMM2023
Sylvia Arboleya describes a possible way to modify the gut microbiota compoaition --> using low-light-level therapy applied to the brain.
