One thing I want to add to my post about physicality at the college level: We talk about baseball way too often like it’s a zero-sum game. Would you rather have velocity or command? Power or low strikeout rates? Size or skill? That’s not really how coaches build teams. They want the guy who throws hard AND throws strikes. The hitter who impacts the baseball AND controls the zone. The athlete who is physical AND can really play. The player who performs on the field AND handles his business in the classroom. Building a college baseball roster is a 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzle. Physicality is a piece. Skill is a piece. Performance, athleticism, makeup, academics, projection — they’re all pieces. You don’t have to be perfect in every category. But the more boxes you check, the easier you make it for a coach to recruit you. It’s not either/or. It’s how many things can you do well at the same time?
