This is the most important unlock for the UK economy. Couldn’t agree with @alanchanguk more!
Most of the pushback on PM’s  announcement, including from pro-growth accounts, says he’s solving a non issue. I can certainly empathise on why people feel this way because thats true for majority of the UK economy. But look at who actually uses 6 to 12 month non-competes and long gardening leaves: Google DeepMind, high Frequent trading firms, prop shops, hedge funds. The companies hiring the top 0.1% of engineers and researchers in the UK. In the age of AI those people matter more than ever. Look at Anthropic and OpenAI. Divide the market cap by the headcount and you’re at billions in enterprise value per person and accelerating. Half of US’s 2026 GDP growth came from AI. Both Anthropic, OpenAI and the same company hoarding all the UK AI talent Google were all built from California, which has banned non-competes for over a century. If Britain ends up banning non completes and lengthy gardening leave, the following will happen: - Top talent breaks free from incumbents. - That talent lands in British AI and hard-tech startups. - Those startups create GDP growth Britian keep saying it wants.

So great to see this news. It just got even better to build here in the UK! Thank you to the government for listening on this important issue.
🚨 BREAKING: Andy Burnham says he will limit non-compete clauses in employment contracts "Non-compete clauses will no longer be a barrier to hiring for our most promising start-ups"

This is the big issue that matters for UK tech dominance. For the love of god please focus on this. If we win in AI we can make all the busses free and not charge the pubs taxes, which have tragically been the higher political priorities of late… set the talent free!

Latest investment 🔥🔥🔥
Flow has raised a $50M Series B at a $750M valuation, co-led by Antonio Gracias (Valor) and Gavin Baker (Atreides) with Sequoia Capital, Roelof Botha (SpaceX, Block), and more. When I became a mechanical engineer, I wanted to invent. In reality, 90% of the day to day execution work (CAD, excel, sim) was digital manual labour. That’s about to flip. The engineer’s role will change more profoundly than at any point since the invention of CAD, with humans focusing on invention, architecture, tradeoffs and judgement calls, and agents taking the grunt work. Anduril, Joby, Stoke Space, Rivian & many more - Flow is now the default platform for requirements and verification for frontier hardware teams. But it’s not just next-gen anymore. Industry giants including General Motors PPU and Volkswagen & Rivian’s joint venture (RV Tech) are reshaping their core development practices with Flow’s AI. The revolution is just starting. Models are getting better quickly at CAD, analysis, simulation, and tool use. In the next year, AI will move from integrating the work to doing the work. One day, this shift won't just enable us to iterate faster, it will enable us to design a class of products that we could not have dreamt of before. We’re hiring.

Congratulations to @thejamescad @dbabbs and the whole team at @profound on the funding announcement today. Profound is the platform AI company for marketing. Grateful to be your partners. We and the Legends are here to do all we can to help you on your journey.
Excited to share @profound has raised a $180M Series D, co-led by @sequoia and @kleinerperkins. Winning in AI Search requires an inhuman amount of work. That is why we are building the AI platform for marketers, underpinned by two things: 1/ Your AI Marketer, a marketing expert that proactively investigates your data, identifies opportunities, and then does the work while you stay in the loop. 2/ Context Manager, a living synthesis of your meetings, email threads, and brand data powering this new teammate. As your brand evolves, so does your AI Marketer. AI labs are pushing the frontier in fields like engineering, law, and finance. But marketing, one of the economy's most complex and consequential applications, has received far less attention. That’s why we’re expanding our applied AI research team. We’re bringing together research scientists, engineers, and IOI medalists to advance AI for marketing. Their focus: post-training models for marketing workflows, and building the world's first AI benchmark for real-world tasks in the field.

Lovable was Evantic’s first ever investment. Within only 18 months, @antonosika , @FabianHedin & the @Lovable Team have grown the business from an early movement into the build economy. Changing not only how software is built but creating access for anyone to build it. Lovable’s first chapter has been like no other: many millions have created software just by describing what they wanted. The next chapter is exponentially bigger: teams inside established companies are running workflows on products built this way, and founders are generating actual revenue and replacing tools they used to pay someone else for. Over 60 million projects have been created on Lovable so far, with 1.2 million more added every week. Within its first year, Lovable reached employees at half of the Fortune 500; less than a year later, that figure has grown to nearly two-thirds. We are proud to keep backing Anton and the whole Lovable Team as they close their $400M Series C. The world we want to help create is one where the people closest to a problem can solve it themselves. Lovable is building that for the 99%. Congratulations! Much more to come.

Congratulations, @antonosika @FabianHedin and the whole @Lovable team!
Lovable just raised $400M at a $13.3B valuation to build the business that helps build businesses. Apps built on Lovable now get 900M visits every month, and we’ve quadrupled ARR in the last 12 months. Since we started, Lovable has become the place where founders create million dollar businesses, business leaders spin up new product lines, and people inside companies rewire workflows and build tools that fit their exact needs, typically at a fraction of what software used to cost. There’s a lot more to do. We will create the most intuitive platform to build and run a business. That means: - Understanding what success looks like for you, then helping you achieve it. Not only ensuring your software works but also that you can attract customers, improve workflows, and grow your company. - Deeper integrations that work with your existing tech stack so you can build the interface to your entire business across sales, ops, marketing, finance, etc. - Becoming the safest platform to build and run your business on, which means secured code by default and that you get help to make safe decisions. As you build, the platform carries more of the security weight, spotting risks and helping you close them, so you can move fast without needing to become a security expert. - Staying model-independent and orchestrating the best models for every task so you don’t have to. We’ll continue to absorb the complexity of evaluating and teaching models to route to the best ones in the background, to minimize cognitive load for our users. As more people depend on Lovable, the quality standards our team is driving increase every single day. We’re growing the team with people with a founder mindset: curious, ambitious, and who think end to end. Model training, product geniuses, infrastructure tinkerers, and security are the priority. The world is full of ambitious people with deep knowledge of problems worth solving. Very few of them have historically had the power to act on them. Our ambition is to give people that power, and then help them achieve more than they thought possible. Thank you to everyone who has followed along our journey. Thank you to @MenloVentures for leading, the Scaleup Europe Fund (managed by @eqt) for co-leading, and all of the new and returning investors who recognize our global ambitions and will help make them a reality. We have made a lot of progress but we are nowhere close to done, it’s still day zero. See our blog: lovable.dev/blog/series-c

.@ericvishria is a true master of the venture craft. He is phenomenal at picking, winning and building. When he aligns with a founder he lives and breathes every step of the journey with them and even in the toughest moments he never questions his belief in them or their dream. So pleased to see him sit down with @patrick_oshag and share some of his thoughts for the broader world to see. Grateful to have worked with Eric on two companies @confluentinc and @FireworksAI_HQ. One of a few friends where I learn something new every time I see him.
My conversation with @ericvishria of Benchmark. Eric has spent a decade investing across software and hardware, backing companies like Fireworks, Sierra, Sunday Robotics, and Cerebras. This one is about what history teaches us about the current moment, and a dispatch from inside the AI buildout through his companies. We discuss: - What AWS tells us about how big AI can get - How the goalposts have moved for every software company - Lessons from a decade with Cerebras - China and the energy bottleneck - Benchmark's return to growth investing - Robotics Enjoy! This is the easiest change that will unlock GDP growth in the uk. Wages will increase. More UK companies will stay in the UK as they scale. Innovation will be unlocked. This is one of the biggest secrets to Silicon Valley success and one of the biggest challenges to building in the UK.
👋 @andyburnham @kanishkanarayan time to abolish long non-competes/gardening leave to unleash british ai entrepreneurship it’s clear that the perceived oppy cost of staying at big tech is enormous and the efflux is now on turbo time to accelerate company formation

There are few greater joys than coming home after a busy day in the summer and enjoying some fresh British strawberries and then realizing you lived much of your life in America not really knowing what a real strawberry actually is or how good it tastes 😎 #Londonmaxxing
