When Moses clarifies what God desires from Israel it basically boils down to 3 things - Honor, Obedience and intimacy. Sounds like what a good Father desires from his children. #CoffeeWithJesus

In seasons of both prosperity and suffering we can look inward to find the reason. There are times when we go through things and we are neither the cause nor the purpose of that season. #CoffeeWithJesus

One of the cycles we see throughout history is that when ppl ascribe to a Christian ethic society experiences flourishing. The problem is that then freedom from that flourishing enable those same ppl to reject the God who allowed them to flourish. #CoffeeWithJesus

Moses implores the ppl that as much as they are leaving the wilderness behind they must not leave the lessons of the wilderness behind. What do we need to remember from the trials and troubles we have gone through? #CoffeeWithJesus

One of the clear commands in Israel’s journey is to not entertain cultural practices that are contrary to the life God was calling them to live. R there cultural things we have allowed that don’t align with who God is? #CoffeeWithJesus

Is it right or wrong? Maybe the better question is, is it Wise? Even if we do go in that direction we need to acknowledge the limits of our wisdom and so it is a beautiful opportunity to lean into the Beginning of all wisdom. #CoffeeWithJesus

Within the Law God commands ppl to be Jubilant. How can God command us to be happy and jubilant? Perhaps God sees our attitude not as a response to external issues but as a choice we get to make. #CoffeeWithJesus

Are we as conscious of who is not in the room as who is? Sometimes the people who are missing from a moment can be just as influential as who is present. #CoffeeWithJesus

God redirected the curse that Balaam was paid to cast over Israel but Israel came under a curse anyway because of their lusts. Its often not the external curses but internal choices that hamper us. #CoffeeWithJesus

Do our daily habits and disciplines lead us into an awareness of God’s presence through the Holy Spirit or do they simply act as to do’s for our christian consciences? #CoffeeWithJesus

Are we trying to align with God’s will or trying to manipulate God towards our will? Externally these approaches can look similar but the motivation makes all the difference. #CoffeeWithJesus

How come some people can experience success in the very consequence of their sin? The thing is that our temporary view of fairness needs to bow to God’s eternal nature of Justice. #CoffeeWithJesus

King Sihon did not know God and so instead of letting the Israelites pass through he marches against them. Sometimes we march against what we should just let go. #CoffeeWithJesus

Walking in one’s calling is not an excuse to walk over other people and their callings. Being called is not an excuse for arrogance or comparison. #CoffeeWithJesus
