Three years ago, when @RaghuReddy505 and I said we were building a home entertainment brand starting with TVs, we were met with a fair share of skepticism. Who needs another TV brand? Who cares about speed on a TV? Why won’t the big guys just do what you’re building? We had our answers. Very few believed them. @rchowdhri did, and backed us on day one. Today @LumioIN Vision and Arc are among the top sellers in their categories, and Aura 5 takes the same approach into home audio. Enjoyed sitting down with him on Interstellar to talk about how we actually build: obsess over customer pain points, build products with passion and build alongside a community that deeply cares about tech. Worth a listen.
In this episode of Interstellar, I speak with @kailazh and @RaghuReddy505, co-founders of @LumioIN, about building a hardware led consumer business, When we first met 3 years ago, global brands dominated the market. Raghu and Kailash wanted to compete on innovation, not price. Their ambition was to build a business that could compete with global players on product and innovation, not just price. That’s a tough ask in a category like TVs, where consumers tend to stick to the 3-4 brands they’ve trusted for years. Since our first investment when they started the company, it’s been exciting to see Lumio’s journey. Their TVs and projectors are now among the top-selling products in their categories across platforms. With the Aura 5, they’re taking the same approach to home audio. A lot of founders want to take on established players. But success takes a deep understanding of the customer and a genuine love for the product. I’ve seen both in Raghu and Kailash. Here's the link to my recent chat with them: youtu.be/b39sRsEqfEE

Happy to share that @LumioIN has raised $12 million in Series A round led by @BlumeVentures , with continued support from @Stellaris_VP and @3one4Capital This funding gives us the opportunity to invest further in our products and software, explore new categories, and strengthen quality and after-sales support as we grow. We also want to give more people the chance to see and try our products before bringing them home. We’re building Lumio to bring thoughtfully designed devices and better software experiences into Indian homes. We launched our first TVs in early 2025. Today, more than 35,000 households across India have a Lumio product at home. For a young brand, being chosen by customers over legacy brands that have been around for decades is a privilege and a responsibility. Thank you to our customers for giving a young brand a place in your homes, and for sharing feedback that helps us improve. We’re grateful to our team and partners for the care and work behind every product. We’re grateful to Blume Ventures for joining us, and to Stellaris and 3one4 Capital for continuing to back us. We’re excited to bring Lumio to more Indian homes and work hard to earn the trust that comes with it.

Why we're launching bookshelf speakers My earliest memory of good music was a Pioneer cassette player with two massive wooden speakers we had at home in the 90s. I wore out more cassettes on that setup than I'd like to admit. Those were the days when you could sit with the music, no phone in hand, and just chill. Music has had an incredible run. Cassettes gave way to MP3s. MP3s gave way to streaming. Streaming became lossless. You now have studio-quality sound on your phone. Music has never sounded better. And what about how we listen to music at home? The wooden stereo pair gave way to the big double deck music system, with PMPO claims that could deafen the neighbourhood. Then came the 5.1 home theatre systems, with enough wires to circle the earth. And now, Soundbars. Sleek, minimal, simple. But were they really a step up? Speaking from experience: not really. My 5.1 set has survived two house moves. But it's still in the box. The weekend where I was supposed to set it up never came. My soundbar barely gets switched on. Dialogue is muffled, so I turn it up. Then an explosion hits, and so does the death stare from my wife. Volume down. Switch off. Repeat. Here's the strange part. Ten steps from my living room is my home studio, where I play guitar and make beats as a hobby. Nothing fancy, just a pair of bookshelf speakers on my desk. But on those, a track opens up. I can hear where the vocal sits, the singer's breath before a line, the pick hitting the string, the reverb trailing off into the room. The kind of detail I could never catch on the soundbar in my living room. The difference is physics. Stereo needs two speakers, spaced apart. Cram everything into one bar and you get the volume, but not the feeling. Thankfully, at @LumioIN we have our fair share of serious audiophiles @laurelsudeep, @kdcloudy, @sarthak9394 and @Abhish3k89 who all felt the same way. So when we decided to get into audio, there wasn't much debate. It had to be Hi-Fi bookshelf speakers. There was just one catch. For most people, bookshelf speakers in the living room meant decision fatigue and endless rabbit holes. Which amp? Which DAC? Which cables? Three YouTube videos later, we're off checking out "best soundbars under 30k". So the real job wasn't just great sound. It was great sound that's as easy to set up as a soundbar. That's @LumioIN Aura 5. Two wooden speakers. Amp and DAC built in. Connect, plug in, play. No receiver, no rabbit holes. Put them by your TV, on your desk, or just pair your phone. Movie night gets dialogue you can actually follow, with a Cinema mode that brings voices forward. Your playlists get room to breathe, with the vocals in front of you and the instruments spread across the soundstage. And all that lossless music you've been streaming finally gets speakers that can keep up. As our marketing team put it, pun intended : Hi-Fi Sound. Bar None. Aura 5 lands on Amazon India for the Great Indian Festival at ₹24,999, with an early bird price of ₹19,999 Plus bank offers on Amazon. lumio.co.in/aura

Most "home audio" today is a soundbar. One box, pretending to be stereo. Lumio Aura 5 is the real thing. Two speakers. Wooden cabinets. Proper Hi-Fi sound. And a setup that takes about two minutes. It's our first home audio product, and we can't wait for you to hear it. Here's what you get. Simple: everything's built in Aura 5 is a complete, powered stereo pair. The amplifier and DAC are already inside, so there's no receiver to buy and no pile of components to figure out. Connect the two speakers. Plug in the power. Connect your source. Done. Fidelity: two speakers, real stereo Each speaker has its own dual-driver setup: a 4.5-inch aluminium woofer for the lows and mids, a 1-inch silk dome tweeter for the highs, and a front-facing bass port. Because the left and right speakers sit apart, vocals land in the centre and instruments spread across the room. That sense of space is what a soundbar can't give you, and it's what Hi-Fi is really about. There's plenty of power behind it. 100W sustained, 200W peak, reaching 105dB SPL at one metre. Loud enough to fill a large living room without straining. Bass reaches down to 35Hz at 80dB, so kick drums hit and movie scenes rumble, without a separate subwoofer. We also cared about the parts you'll never see. Aura 5 plays lossless audio up to 24-bit/48kHz, and the DAC runs on its own isolated, low-noise power supply. Tuned with our community Sound is personal, so we shaped our DGS tuning together with Lumio's community of enthusiasts. Pick the mode that fits what you're playing: Studio: balanced, for everyday listening. Cinema: clearer dialogue and more atmospheric detail. Groove: extra bass for the high-energy playlists. Versatile: connects to everything Seven input modes: HDMI ARC, optical, coaxial, 3.5mm, Bluetooth 5.4, and USB with separate PC and playback modes. Under your TV for movie night. On your desk while you work. And when a friend wants to play one song, they just pair their phone. The Minion OLED Bluetooth remote handles volume, inputs and listening modes from your couch. An Android and iOS app is coming soon. Service that comes to you Home service across India, backed by 300+ service centres. Plus a one-year comprehensive warranty on the speaker pair and six months on the remote. Price and availability Lumio Aura 5 goes on sale soon on Amazon and Lumio Store. Early bird price: ₹19,999 Regular price: ₹24,999 Your audiophile journey starts here.

Today, we’re launching Lumio Aura 5. The response to our TVs and projectors has shown us that Indian consumers want products that combine serious performance with a simple, thoughtful experience. We’re taking that philosophy into a new category with Lumio Aura 5, a pair of Hi-Fi speakers built around simplicity, fidelity, and versatility. With Aura 5, we’re bringing proper Hi-Fi audio, with wooden cabinets, dedicated drivers, and an expansive stereo soundstage, in a setup that’s as simple as plug and play. The pair delivers 100W sustained and 200W peak, reaching 105dB SPL at one metre. Bass extends down to 35Hz at 80dB, giving music and movies a fuller low end and real weight, no subwoofer needed. It supports lossless playback up to 24-bit/48kHz, and connects to your TV, computer, or phone through seven input modes. We wanted this to be a pair of speakers you could use throughout the day, across the devices you already own. We also want to take this moment to thank our community for helping shape how Aura 5 sounds. We worked with enthusiasts on our DGS tuning, with Studio, Cinema, and Groove modes offering different profiles for whatever you’re listening to. Aura 5 goes on sale soon on Lumio Store and Amazon, with an early bird price of ₹19,999.
