We welcome the news that the Parliament's highest honour, the 2027 Sakharov Prize, has been awarded to the ICC.
This is a strong signal to the European Commission to immediately invoke the Blocking Statute, and protect international justice from US sanctions and intimidation.
The International Criminal Court and its officials have been awarded the European Parliament's 2026 Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought.

Today, the trade unions have gathered again to protest against EU Inc. - 28th regime, a proposal that will have disastrous consequences on workers' rights. The European Commission wants to allow a fast-track path to setting up companies, shop around for the weakest labour laws in Europe, and to weaken labour standards and tax controls. In November, the Parliament will vote on this file, and I urge all my colleagues to reject it.

🎶 Για τις αμοιβές που δεν φτάνουν στους ανθρώπους που δημιουργούν και ερμηνεύουν τη μουσική.

🤖 Για την Τεχνητή Νοημοσύνη που χρησιμοποιεί τη δουλειά, τις φωνές και τα έργα των καλλιτεχνών, συχνά χωρίς τη συναίνεση και χωρίς δίκαιη αμοιβή.
🚨 Ο Στάθης Δρογώσης μίλησε για τον εφιάλτη που δημιουργεί για την τέχνη ο συνδυασμός της απουσίας αμοιβής των ερμηνευτών και της επέλασης της ΑΙ.
«Δεν υπάρχει μεγαλύτερο ψέμα από το ότι η αγορά αυτορυθμίζεται. Ρυθμίζει ο ισχυρός», όπως είπε ο Γιάννης Μαραγκουδάκης.
Και όπως τόνισε ο Παναγιώτης Καλαντζόπουλος, τρέχουμε με ιλιγγιώδη ταχύτητα, πάνω σε μια μηχανή με γκάζι και χωρίς φρένο.
Η τεχνολογία προχωρά. Ποιος, όμως, διασφαλίζει τα δικαιώματα των δημιουργών;
Χρειάζονται κανόνες, διαφάνεια, συναίνεση και δίκαιη αμοιβή. Χρειάζεται ευρωπαϊκή νομοθεσία που θα προστατεύει τους ανθρώπους της μουσικής, όχι μόνο τα συμφέροντα των πλατφορμών.
Γιατί πίσω από κάθε τραγούδι υπάρχει ένας άνθρωπος. Και η φωνή του πρέπει να ακούγεται.

While today I’m in Geneva to support the process on a UN binding treaty to hold corporations accountable for the human rights violations they commit, back in Brussels the Member States of the EU are meeting. On the agenda might be a ban on trade with Israel’s illegal settlements in Palestine. But clearly this is not enough. Europe’s complicity in genocide and ethnic cleansing needs to end. We need to end the EU-Israel Association agreement.
