Extremely excited to share this collaboration between @OpenEvidence and @BehindTheKnife, with @georgoff and team. Exciting developments ahead!
It happened. We got Behind the Knife. @BehindTheKnife's surgical education library will feed into OpenEvidence answers, and OpenEvidence will be built into their ABSITE and oral board prep. @AmbarMehta, a vascular surgeon who leads surgery initiatives at OpenEvidence, puts it this way: the toughest surgical decisions live between the lines of the evidence.

A great example of creative endovascular problem-solving in a true bailout situation. The team combined large-volume thrombectomy with an Endurant II aortic endograft + kissing VBX limbs…

One of the more practice changing papers I have come across in the past few years. A must listen for vascular surgeons and trainees. I was mainly shocking iliacs, but great data for the Fem/Pop segment.

Replying to @NicholasZaorsky
As a mentor of mine would say: Go to any academic surgery department and look at all the portraits on the walls of surgeons who thought they were irreplaceable

I understand the value of standardized technical skills assessment, but I’m torn on its utility. If experienced faculty can verify that a trainee is technically competent and ready for independent practice, is another required exam necessary? What do others think?
Fundamentals of Vascular Surgery will soon be a requirement of the American Board of Surgery for Vascular surgery trainees. APDVS Curriculum Chair Dr. Paul DiMusto here at @MWVSSociety 2026 evaluating trainees. For more information check out: vascular.org/apdvs/program-d…

The single most important event in any surgeon's career is the first major complication they get after becoming an attending. Though it may be a tragic event, it's only then that they really grow up and truly understand the magnitude of what they're doing.
“Every surgeon carries within himself [herself] a small cemetery, where from time to time he goes to pray- a place of bitterness and regret, where he must look for an explanation for his failures.” -Rene Leriche We mustn’t forget to care for ourselves and colleagues when complications occur.

An 86-year-old with an infected aortic aneurysm, aortoduodenal fistula, massive GI bleeding—and cardiac arrest before anesthesia. Emergency surgery, 3 weeks of recovery, and today she went home. Sometimes surgeons—and patients—need a little luck. #infectedAAA

Updated the AAA Planning Tool to include EVAR, TEVAR, & FEVAR, plus an AAA repair risk calculator. This version now incorporates costs & complexity for each device, and separate labelling for devices that can be within IFU if used with adjuncts (e.g., Heli-FX EndoAnchors). Link:

I’m excited to launch our podcast Tales From the Cortex 🎧🧠 A different kind of podcast for anyone curious about the brain. Each episode starts with a story, a patient, a symptom, and a mystery. Then you become the neurologist. We’ll learn how to think through neurological problems—one story at a time. Every symptom is a clue. Every brain has a story. 🎧 Check it out: podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcas… #Neurology #MedEd #Neuroscience #Podcast
