"Because it doesn't feel like work, you don't do it." I really appreciate how consistently and articulately Ben Horowitz talks about the actual function of the story in the business. Story penetrates every function. It's part of your infrastructure. And it's not set in stone - like with your product - the story is a result of an iterative process. It's a discipline.
Ben Horowitz on treating your story as your strategy, and why founders often skip writing it even though it's one of the most important parts of the job: "The story of the company is also the strategy of the company... In your mind, you're kind of adjusting that strategy a little bit at a time every day. But then a quarter later, it's actually pretty different than what you started with." "So it's really important that you keep upgrading your story. The articulation of your story. I would definitely recommend it be in written form." "Something that you can share with everybody in the company, and everybody you're recruiting, everybody you're trying to raise money from, all your constituents, every customer." "The problem that I think founders have is it doesn't feel like work. Like, 'What are you doing today?' 'I'm working on my story.' That doesn't sound like work." "Because it doesn't feel like work, people don't do it, but it's probably one of the most important parts of the job." @bhorowitz w/ @speedrun GP @Tocelot

If privacy is crypto's last narrative, it's cooked. Nobody actually cares about their privacy. We all should. We just don't. Also, I love how Haseeb just kind of glosses over the most controversial part of this talk: namely, that he no longer believes in crypto as the rails for the agentic economy. If that's the case, crypto is double-cooked. Add quantum to that... Why am I still holding?..
I was wrong. Agents don't need crypto. It's us humans who do. I break down what the industry got wrong in my @token2049 talk, Agents + Crypto: What's Real and What's Cope 👇

I've been fascinated with agents. Not with what they can do, but with how they make decisions. This is a moral decision an agent made here. It could have done a white-hat hijack and helped the researchers. Why didn't it do that? It chose to avoid infamy. Again - why. Send me more of this kind of stuff pls.
Apparently this is the reasoning trace from Gemini Argon as it considered - but decided not to - insert a backdoor into a compiler

Hey Tech Week event organizers - You got my phone number when I applied for the event - it's not a reason to just call me out of the blue. Don't be a creep. Schedule a call like a normal person. Thank you.

I don't usually, but I gotta say, today's episode of @nytimes's The Daily podcast is the stuff of Pulitzer. Math, crickets, madness, love, grief, meaning of life, god, and back to math. @RachelAbramsNY talking to Steven Strogatz, a Cornell math professor, has created a truly special piece. Will save and relisten on a rainy day.

Who’s doing agentic marketing? As in - marketing to agents, not with agents.

Where is @ilyasut. For real.
My current view: - AI companies could develop broadly superhuman AI any year now (~10-15% by EO2027, ~50% by EO2030). - If they don't slow down, AI takeover is ~67%. - Conditional on AI takeover, human extinction is ~40%. Many non-extinction worlds still have lots of deaths.

Should crypto rename itself into AiFi?
The internet’s business model was built around people: attention, ads, subscriptions and checkout. AI agents are changing that. They can retrieve and use content without sending a human reader back to the publisher. That raises a real question for creators, publishers and developers: how can they get paid when an agent uses their work, sometimes for a fraction of a cent? Our new Coinbase Institute @CoinbaseCBI paper, "Machine-to-machine payments in the AiFi era," examines why existing payment rails often struggle with high-velocity microtransactions—and why stablecoins on low-cost networks are a strong fit today. The policy goal should be an open, interoperable payment layer, with safeguards that match the risks—not closed marketplaces that decide who can participate.
