Thank you to the Masjid Baitul Ahad for welcoming me and representatives to an evening marking the centenary of The Fazl Mosque in Southfields. It was a good opportunity to speak to attendees about the history of the mosque and the Ahmadi community in the UK. @AhmadiyyaUK

I used to love bonfire night as a kid and have really good memories of spending it with family watching the fireworks and eating jacket potatoes in tin foil 🥔 🎆 I hope that everyone has a safe and fun evening tonight, making your own memories

I was happy to host British-Ukrainian Aid for a charity dinner in support of Superhumans War Trauma Centre. It was good to have the opportunity to meet guests including veterans injured as a result of the war who received life-changing care from the Centre.

Today, I placed tributes in The Parliament Garden of Remembrance on behalf of everyone in West Ham and Beckton, in remembrance of those who lost their lives and recognition of all those who served our country and community.

Yesterday, students at @GainsboroughEko had a lesson on how to spot and avoid scams, fraud and exploitation. Better financial education is often brought up by young people so it's good to see these sessions being rolled out across the country. Thank you to @RTHondavehanson

Fraudsters are seeking to use young people as money mules to launder their dirty cash. We're introducing new lessons across England to protect children from exploitation. Great to sit in on the first lesson at Gainsborough Primary School along with local MP @JamesAsser

Local people living with heart conditions will benefit from the new HEARTS unit at Newham Hospital. It will be quicker and more comfortable for patients helping avoid long hospital stays. While I had my blood pressure checked - despite what you might think it wasn’t high!

The residents and businesses in Caxton Works have had their lives thrown into chaos and are facing financial hardships without a clear answer as to how long this will last. Today, I raised this directly with ministers and emphasised the urgent need for answers and support.

Last week ComicCon was back at the ExCel. A great weekend, the mood inside is a sense of fun. Lots of costumes of every type with everyone being generous to the out-of-costume politician! Wonderful to welcome so many people to our area, over 100,000 across the weekend #ComicCon

Happy Halloween 🎃 Yesterday I was at West Ham Park for their spooky autumn trail. There were lots of great decorations and costumes and it was good to see so many people out joining in with the activities and enjoying the park.

Today I saw some of the brilliant art work at the Black History Month exhibition in East Ham. Katie Blake has carefully curated artwork and materials from local artists and the estate of Benjamin Zephaniah exploring black history and culture in Newham.

Yesterday’s budget was good news for Newham. We’ll be able to get a train from Stratford to Europe, an exciting link with new opportunities for our area. 1,588 businesses in West Ham & Beckton could pay no business rates and 51,160 households will get £100 support.

I signed this letter with colleagues. Gambling can cause significant harm and it is good to see this recognised in the budget. The standard rate of Machine Games Duty has increased to 25% on high-harm machines and has excluded adult gaming centres from business rates relief.

Unsafe battery practices can cause devastating fires. I recently chaired a panel with @ElecSafetyFirst. Their research shows that it is not primarily a lack of awareness but structural factors that cause most people to ignore the associated risks with e-batteries.

Following the successful National Cadets Week I met Defence Minister & fellow East London MP, Calvin Bailey to talk about cadets in West Ham & Beckton. Calvin has been writing to cadet groups including our own West Ham Sea Cadets congratulating them on their recruitment success.

Interesting to see St John Ambulance at ComicCon this weekend. They’d got interest in volunteering from over 1000 people and were very busy demonstrating first aid skills. A combination of taking a stall at a different type of event & a great team on the stand paid off.
