The trade off. Radiation & immunotherapy stops #cancer. But can trash nerves - particularly in my left leg. Can walk again. Inside without braces or walker. Outside with hip and knee brace, plus cane. Long way to go, but will run and bike again. #itri4aCure. @ThanksCancer
9 years ago today was the 1st surgery. 2 more surgeries, 60 rounds chemo, 10 rounds radiation, 4 drug trials, over 100 scans & x-rays & 100s of blood draws. Going to watch @Knicks game, play some guitar & read to finish out today. @thankscancer #cancer #chemotherapy #triathlon
Yes!! I have tears in my muscles and tendons. Sounds weird. But when you have #cancer finding out why your leg has started acting wonky is from injury, and not tumors, is good news 😀
Took yesterday off, after three straight days of exercise. Was tired today, but figured I could at least try a short ride. Sat down on trainer in front of TV to see how long I could go while watching some @NFL
Back pain increasing. Hoping it’s radiation damage & not #cancer. Breathing is a bit wheezy & coughing up a bit of blood now🤔. A fun aspect of cancer. I did an hour on the bike yesterday, Maybe cancer not growing, but thought is always there. @ThanksCancer
Another day, another training session. (I really like the time starting about 10-14 days following an infusion. Usually have a couple of weeks of good days before next infusion.) #cancer #triathlon @MSKCancerCenter @thankscancer
I’ve only been in the pool 6 times, in total, during 2021 until today. My last time in the pool was almost a year ago today - October 11, 2022.
I was tethered, so it is a rough, low end, estimate of distance. Happy with being able to do a 10 minute segment.#cancer #triathlon
Waiting for infusion at @memorialsloankettering Had to bring in my @ironmantri AC 70.3 medal to show off 😀 (People knew I was doing the race, so figured I would bring the medal and cap in. No shirt though, because they were all sold out 😢)
Almost a week since my last long run - 6 miles up to 7 miles at a minute and a half faster per mile. It was a bit cooler, so that helped.
Even if I have to walk some more, should be able to get the full 13.1 next month at @ironman70.3 in Atlantic City.
I hate #cancer. Another friend, who I never met but had extensive discussions with for years, has now entered hospice. I just went through the messages and to see what has gone on over the time …😢
Two bottles of water. Two @ClifBar bloks. @rouvyset to Atlantic City @IRONMANtri 70.3 from 2018. Will see 🤔
Yesterday was better. Got outside for running. Trying to do more over the next week , because starting in about 10 days I take my next step to getting super powers. PET Scans, MRIs and radiation treatments. I will be glowing by the time it is all done.

Forgot to fill someone in on recent developments. So filled them in. Apologies in advance who think Hawkeye is a superhero. (I am not sure I ever met anyone who ever said that.). I was perhaps still bonked from my ride a bit earlier 🤣

9 years #cancer = med school 😀
Me: I bet T10 tumor misbehaving
NP: Yup
Me: Sort of figured radiation in my near future.
NP: Yup. Will need to speak to Radiation Oncologist because there is limit on radiation in lifetime.
Me: Because it causes cancer?😉
#cancer #triathlon #triathlontraining. Been a bit remiss on running since last race. Bit working it back in ...
One year ago today I was doing laps ate MSK. It was two days after my surgery. I was in a lot of pain. I was on morphine. Moving to get out of the bed caused incredible pain. I remember cursing at the top of my lungs at points.
