Anna Khouri, our @IPPNWS International Student Rep with @IPPNWgermany is joining the IPPNW team in New York at the end of the month for the #NuclearBan's first Review Conference! See you there, Anna!
In response to the escalating rhetoric from President Trump and his administration on potential military action after the upcoming midterm elections, over 200 organizations call on Congress to immediately intervene to prevent the use of nuclear weapons against Iran.
While the administration claimed earlier this month that nuclear weapons would not be utilized, the signing organizations argue that sudden policy reversals have become a defining feature of the presidency, making it impossible to discount these statements as idle threats.
More than 200 national and international civil society organizations issued a joint statement today demanding that the United States Congress immediately intervene to prevent the use of nuclear weapons against Iran.
The unified declaration follows repeated nuclear threats against Iran and escalating rhetoric from President Trump regarding potential military action after the upcoming midterm elections.

Walusungu Mtonga is joining dozens of IPPNW health professionals and medical students at the United Nations Headquarters next month for the first Review Conference to the #nuclearban
We echo Walusungu's call for Zambia, and all countries, to join the global majority and ratify the ban without delay. The risk of nuclear war is at an all time high, and the TPNW provides a clear path toward the total, irreversible elimination of these disastrous weapons.
Join us in wishing Walusungu safe travels and a successful meeting. Learn more about the TPNW and it's first Review Conference in our recent posts and at ippnw.org

It's #DisarmamentWeek! Let's talk about our favorite tool for humanitarian disarmament, the Nuclear Ban Treaty. Next month we'll head to the UN for it's first Review Conference.
Curious how an international legal document is paving the road to total nuclear disarmament? (1/3🧵)
Based on the humanitarian and medical consequences, the Treaty reframes nuclear disarmament from a security debate to a humanitarian imperative.
The TPNW's prohibitions and obligations show us the road to nuclear disarmament, both legally and by building societal pressure. (2/3)
Aren’t nuclear weapons supposed to keep us safe?
Anna Ikeda @SGI_OUNA, joined us in our Global Classroom to talk about the truth of what nuclear security and deterrence asks of us.
