It's deeply ironic that Socialism was once a rising force in American politics. But what helped kill it was Soviet Communism. 🧵

If these were your kids' report cards I'm pretty sure I know who's getting a pizza party and who is getting a talk about needing to study harder...

This right here is why Leftists are acting more mad about the election than even Republicans: They thought AES and Platner were gonna be progressive king-makers. Oh well... Sorry, not sorry! Cope harder! 🌊
It's funny because you can tell this guy was expecting to be a power player in a closely divided Senate and then we flipped a bunch of red states and made him superfluous. Winning South Carolina and Mississippi royally screwed him.

While the @DemSocialists were attacking mainstream Democrats, @RepJeffries was lining up candidates in red-to-bluedistricts that included ministers, combat veterans, farmers, prosecutors, and other centrists from blue-collar backgrounds. nymag.com/intelligencer/arti…

CBC Senior Advisor to @CBCPAC Chris Taylor responds to a petition against Hakeem Jeffries’ speakership candidacy: “Thanks to Leader Jeffries’ determination, we’ve just secured one of the biggest midterm victories in recent history despite unprecedented attacks on voting rights and an effort to rig the system for MAGA Republicans. “We won’t be distracted by a few grifters running a pay-for-play scheme to divide our movement for the American people while they enrich themselves.”
This is an astroturfed pay-to-play scheme to sow division and lie about Leader Jeffries. His track record of success speaks for itself.

I see no reason to cater to the DSA. In terms of popularity, YouGov puts Zorhan at 46% popularity and AOC at 43%. This is below Kamala at 49%. When it comes to electability, the more moderate a candidate was, the better they preformed this election. All super left-leaning candidates underperformed. According to Ballotpedia, the single senator the DSA endorsed lost. They also endorsed 29 candidates in the US house, 8 won 20 lost (27% success rate). With policy the DSA doesn’t offer anything practical. “Medicare for all” isn’t a policy, it’s an empty platitude with no actual plan to achieve it. The green new deal not only would be economically destructive but was a completely unachievable bill to push for. Rent freezing doesn’t actually solve housing issues, it just makes the housing market worse for new renters and home buyers. And of course the national DSA positions on foreign policy are atrocious, blaming the Ukraine war on “NATO expansion.” The DSA has controversy with foreign governments. The DSA sent “election monitors” to Venezuela in which they “certified” that Maduro won his last election. They also met with members of his staff. In terms of supporting the Democratic Party, it doesn’t. The DSA did not endorse Joe Biden nor did it endorse Kamala Harris. They also push terms that are meant to erode confidence in the Democratic Party like “corporate dem”, “zionist democrat” and “establishment democrat”. DSA candidates are also legislatively impotent. AOC has had zero bills of the 294 bills she has sponsored. Bernie Sanders passed two out of 477 he sponsored. So what exactly does the DSA have to offer?
I am curious how we balance Whick’s rhetoric of “DSA is a blight on our party” with AOC & ZOHRAN (DSA members) being 2 of our most popular leaders, and far and away the most popular with under 40 year olds. I fail to see how calling AOC a “blight” on our party is helpful.
