🗺️ Researchers from IFPRI, @WUR, and Viet Nam's National Institute of Nutrition mapped food outlets across three districts in northern Viet Nam to compare the healthiness of food environments around adolescents' homes and schools. They found that:
🥤 Healthy and unhealthy foods were within similar reach
🏠 School food environments were no unhealthier than those at home
🍽️ More food outlets didn’t mean worse diets

In recognition of the @UN #InternationalDayofRuralWomen and #YearoftheWomanFarmer, we are excited to share this story about how mechanization helps reduce drudgery and expand opportunities for rural women in shea cooperatives in northern Ghana.
In early 2025, an IFPRI-led project equipped 20 women’s shea cooperatives with motorized tricycles, mechanical dehusking machines, and personal protective equipment.

Focus group discussions show that dehusking 80–100 kg of shea nuts now takes about 30 minutes, down from 2–3 days. The time saved can support farming, family responsibilities, and other income-generating activities.
