Ever called a list of in-network therapists and gotten nowhere? You’re not imagining it. A new article in @JAMAHealthForum on Inseparable commissioned studies shows how common it is – fewer than 1 in 4 calls led to an appointment. Read the study: insact.us/4itAFwS

Companies should be held accountable for the harm their products cause people. Period. A bipartisan coalition of states is suing OpenAI over user safety, and it’s an important step toward making sure AI tools put people’s wellbeing first. 🔗 ow.ly/gc8G50ZY2o7

We’ve spent years telling people it’s okay to ask for help, and more of them are listening, taking the important first step of looking after their mental health. What they find is a system still catching up, with nearly half of adults living with a diagnosable mental health condition going without treatment last year. Good mental health care should be easy to get and easy to afford, and we’re working with lawmakers in Washington and in statehouses across the country to make that real.

Families have raised concerns for years about social media features designed to keep kids scrolling. Meta’s settlement of up to $17.1 billion gives states an opportunity to put real resources toward the youth mental health services so many communities urgently need.

Whether you get the care you need shouldn't come down to an algorithm. Today, Inseparable joined 45 leading health organizations in backing the bipartisan Doctors Not AI Act, which would keep coverage decisions in the hands of qualified clinicians. 🔗 insact.us/3ThFgbU @RepGregLandsman @RepBuddyCarter @RepKimSchrier @RepTomBarrett

Meta is paying billions to settle claims over harm to young people. That money should go where it belongs: young people’s mental health and wellbeing. Our model legislation with the Fund IRL Coalition shows states how to protect these dollars, involve youth and families, and invest in what helps kids thrive. 💚 >> insact.us/4xO0Xyf

Too many people can't find a therapist when they need one. 151 million Americans live in a mental health professional shortage area, and inadequate pay is pushing providers out of the field.

Last week, Inseparable's Mental Health Policy Academy brought together 25 policymakers from 11 states to explore policies that strengthen mental health in their communities. Over two days, they explored ways to help people find care close to home, meet a crisis with the right support, and grow the mental health workforce. Thank you to this terrific group for the rich conversations and fresh ideas. We can't wait to see what they build back home.

Minnesota is getting $200M+ from Meta because kids were harmed online. That money belongs to those kids, not the general fund. Our partner @SAVEvoicesofedu makes the case for locking it in for mental health and suicide prevention. Read here → insact.us/4hgkPEd

Having health insurance doesn't always mean you can get a therapist. It's a challenge Inseparable is working to address at the state level, and one PA @RepSchlossberg is hearing directly from constituents. Asking for help should never come with a wait.
