After the Pistons’ 14-win season, Cade Cunningham had FOMO watching the playoffs. He texted someone he knew would understand. I spoke with them both for an exclusive on how that text sparked Detroit’s two-year turnaround: nytimes.com/athletic/7196374…

Asked J.B. Bickerstaff if anything has surprised him about Ebuka Okorie’s game: “He showed a poise from a young player that you don’t see often. … He did a great job for us and we’ve got tough decisions to make.”

Jalen Duren looks regular-season ready. Cade Cunningham is dialed in from 3. Ausar Thompson appears more confident than ever. Here’s why there should be optimism around the Pistons as they enter the regular season: nytimes.com/athletic/7697623…

We’ve got a new face at the podium:

Pistons hang on to beat the Raptors 129-125 and finish the preseason at 3-1. Cade had a team-high 18 points and 7 assists. Overall a pretty encouraging preseason showing for Detroit. The regular season kicks off Tuesday against the Celtics.

These have been some long preseason games.

He’s back y’all. Almost positive he just went back to try to get some treatment finished early.

Still in the locker room. I’m assuming he went to the back to get started on postgame treatment since he was finished playing.

Ebuka might mess around and have a light mixtape off this quarter alone.

Ebuka’s touch around the rim for his age is silly. That last hesi and finish was tough. He should be a fun player for the Pistons eventually.

Jalen Duren just went back to the locker room.

J.B. just picked up a tech. Think that’s his second of the preseason.

Ausar just cleared out the side and got to an in and out pull up with confidence. Things are happening.

Almost positive Duren is on his third pair of shoes tonight.

Hop step was more aggressive than the dunk. John made sure he was clearing space.

Duren just hit a turnaround jumper over someone listed at 7’5.

Cade is like a kid in a candy store with these lobs when Duren and Collins are on the floor.
