Thanks to @bitcoindudebro's excellent work on @HornetNode, I just closed a couple of potential consensus issues in rbitcoin. rbitcoin now has explicit test coverage mapped to every one of Hornet's textual consensus rules for block validation.
Onward!
I was pleased to be invited to present my work to Brink engineers on Hornet Node: A Minimal, Executable Specification of Bitcoin Consensus. Feedback welcome. Thank you @bitschmidty for the invitation 🙏🏼
Toby Sharp (@bitcoindudebro) joined Brink engineers to present Hornet, an executable specification for Bitcoin consensus:
- Code is the spec
- Hornet & kernel
- Block validity rules
- A new UTXO database
- A consensus DSL
- Differential and adversarial testing
- Q&A
Hornet UTXO(1): Constant-Time UTXO Operations Via A Custom High-Bandwidth Lock-Free Database.
The write-up for my latest piece of Hornet's software engineering will be out soon. It forms a key part of Hornet's maximally concurrent, out-of-order validation pipeline, built around the Hornet declarative specification of consensus.
