It’s my honour to continue representing Chagos islanders and earlier today I was interviewed on Times Radio following yesterday’s UN General Assembly meeting in New York between US President Trump and UK Prime Minister Burnham. I spoke about how Washington’s veto against ceding British sovereignty to Mauritius is vital for western military security interests; in addition I raised the importance of Chagossian people’s rights of self-determination and resettlement, as well as broader regional stability, by cancelling this deeply flawed proposed handover.

It's hard to believe Andy Burnham still wants to pay to give away the Chagos Islands. It's the worst and most unnecessary deal in history. Expensive, a cruel act against the Chagossian people, and bad for our US allies. Let's hope Trump kills it.

What a fantastic group of people campaigning in #Crawley today for @reformparty_uk! I didn’t seek reelection as MP in 2024 because the Conservatives broke their promises by allowing record high immigration, hiked taxes and squandered Brexit opportunities; under this Labour government these issues have of course been made much worse. Reform UK is our last chance to save the nation I love. 🇬🇧

There are certain days in our lives which we will never forget, that strike us like thunder and stay with us forever, when we learned that terrible news - both personal tragedies and global events alike. We remember the thousands cruelly murdered on September 11 a quarter century ago during the terror attacks in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania, as well as the lives consequently lost since. The poignant New York World Trade Center memorial (pictured here when I visited in 2016) is a powerful symbol of devastating individual loss witnessed by the world - and a reminder that we must remain vigilant to the very real threats which continue to exist for our civilisation, wellbeing and liberty.
