A Ruskin man was arrested after he stabbed and robbed a man near a local food pantry. On October 27, 2026, at approximately 8:00 a.m., #teamHCSO responded to a 911 call near Calvary Angel’s Attic food pantry in Ruskin, where they found a man who had been stabbed. The victim told deputies he was struck multiple times with an unknown object. During the violent attack, the suspect stole the victim’s jewelry, cell phone, and wallet before running off. The victim was taken to a local hospital with injuries that are non-life-threatening. Detectives identified the suspect as Joshua Mobley, 27. On October 29, 2026, detectives located him and took him into custody. “This victim was ambushed from behind and left injured near a place where our neighbors go for help,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “This violent criminal is now off our streets and will answer for what he has done.” More: teamhcso.pulse.ly/sx1gtor8tu

A man is in custody after he rammed a deputy’s truck, damaged a city water main, and crashed into an apartment building trying to get away. On October 29, 2026, at 10:46 a.m., a #teamHCSO attempted a traffic stop on a silver Nissan near N. 56th Street and Puritan Road in Tampa. The driver, Stoel Markes Jr., 41, reversed into the deputy’s vehicle, then hit a street sign and a City of Tampa water pipe as he tried to flee. He drove onto a sidewalk at an apartment complex off Heather Lyn Court and struck a building. He then ran on foot. With the help of HCSO's K9 Unit, deputies tracked him down and took him into custody. He is facing the following charges: •Aggravated Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer with a Deadly Weapon •Felony Fleeing to Elude •Resisting an Officer Without Violence •Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Property Damage •Driving While License Suspended or Revoked (Second or Subsequent Offense)

A stolen box truck pursuit through Tampa ended with the driver in custody thanks to a team effort from the air and on the ground. On October 28, 2026, at approximately 8:30 p.m., #teamHCSO’s Aviation Unit responded to Interstate 275 and Fletcher Avenue to assist the Florida Highway Patrol in the recovery of a stolen box truck. From above, Aviation kept constant eyes on the truck and guided patrol units as it moved through the streets of Tampa. Units deployed stop sticks, and the truck came to a stop on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard near Ridge Avenue, where units took the driver into custody.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrested 30 registered sex offenders for violations in October as part of Operation Scarecrow, a coordinated effort to make sure Halloween night stays safe for every child and their family. “There is nothing more important than safeguarding children in our community,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Our efforts ensured these offenders were in compliance, and those who were in violation went back to jail.” Operation Scarecrow Results: Compliance checks completed: 1,202 Arrests made: 30 Parents can search for registered sex offenders and predators in their neighborhood through FDLE. #teamHCSO has arrested Daniel Yerty, 36, on an attempted murder charge after he strangled a woman and stabbed her multiple times in the neck and hands on East 19th Ave. She was taken to the hospital, where she is in stable condition. #teamHCSO has arrested Nathan Campbell, 26, in connection with the fatal shooting in Tampa. On October 27, 2026, at 11:19 p.m., deputies responded to the 12000 block of Taliaferro Avenue after receiving reports of shots being fired. Upon arrival, deputies located Ronnie Sheppard, 29, suffering from upper body trauma. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. On October 28, 2026, detectives located Campbell at a residence in Gibsonton, where he was taken into custody. "In less than 12 hours, a homicide suspect is off our streets," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "This violent 10-time convicted felon can no longer victimize our community."
