Thread of some pretty messed up trends that neoliberalism directly or indirectly cause or exacerbate. NL's love quantitative data, so...
If the military have smart fridges, then give it enough time and there won't be a world war three, just a sudden & system-wide shutdown of the entire US military capabilities that renders the question mute.
Not because of the fridges, but what they represent, & the track of AI.
BREAKING: Pentagon investigates suspected cyberattack after freezers at 6 US military bases mysteriously malfunctioned, spoiling large quantities of food, per Reuters.
In at least one of the cases, the freezers did not simply stop working. Instead, the cooling units’ temperatures were cranked up overnight, yielding massive amounts of wilted or melted food in the morning.
It comes as the Pentagon prepares every major US military base to operate for at least 90 days without outside electricity, fuel, water or supplies, anticipating a major war.

You forgot control of means of production. Part of the reason they amassed such control, is they sit as overlords of junctures of essential production.

Bad news. Looks like Narco Rubio's thugs in Bolivia are going to arrest Nadia Beller, the lawyer who blew the lid off the US-Israeli black op to steal elections and empower the far right across Latin America -- the same Big Tech/CIA conspiracy that just fell short in Brazil.
SCOOP: Nadia Beller, the Bolivian whistleblower who survived an assassination attempt ordered by Trump associate and political operative Fernando Cerimedo, tells me authorities are seeking to arrest her as soon as Friday. According to sources within the Bolivian government and police, the case will argue that her (brave) testimony against Cerimedo’s crimes—which range from U.S. backed election interference to drug trafficking—is evidence she had prior knowledge and failed to report.
Beller, a lawyer herself, cites multiple legal grounds for immunity and says this is an obvious attempt to silence her for exposing a corruption network spanning from Washington DC to Bolivia, Brazil, Argentina, and beyond. Beller’s whistleblowing prompted investigations in Argentina and Chile, including a congressional commission probing Cerimedo.
The Bolivian attorney general who arrested and charged Cerimedo with femicide for the attack on Beller was sanctioned by the U.S. and later detained by Bolivian authorities.
Beller says she fears for her life and the life of her unborn child, which Cerimedo allegedly fathered. She is calling on the international community to support her in the face of political lawfare, attempted femicide, and state repression. Please share far and wide.
There's something poetic about how all the fash exiles are moving to a place that will literally be underwater in a few decades.
Throughout all of my education, there was only one time where my hyper-focus landed on actual, relevant, study.
At the start of repeating college having flunked first time around; every single test & homework assignment was marked an A.
It lasted about 2 months.
Mum gave up.

0.1% of people on the planet emit more CO2 than the poorest 3.5 billion people combined.
One year’s worth of emissions from the top 1% will result in an estimated 1.3 million excess deaths from extreme heat.
Just a few stats from Oxfam's incredible new report.
Natural disasters aren’t natural. A storm doesn’t decide who has insurance, savings or somewhere safe to go. People built the systems that leave others exposed. People can change them.

By running 3D LiDAR mapping and obstacle-avoidance AI entirely on-chip, it can weave under tree canopies and predict target movement through blind spots in real time.
