The initiative is being rolled out across UEDCL's 15 territories, with the company targeting 3,000 litres of blood.
Bazakakye called on the public to donate blood and encourage friends and relatives in the different territories where the activities are taking place to participate.
She expressed hope that the blood donation drive would become an annual tradition, reinforcing UEDCL's commitment to customer experience, community support and saving lives.

The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) has launched a nationwide blood donation drive targeting 3,000 units of blood across its 15 operational territories as part of its Customer Experience Month activities.
Speaking at the launch, UEDCL Managing Director Eng. Joselynne Rwabwogo highlighted the company's commitment to extending customer care beyond electricity distribution to supporting the health and well-being of the communities it serves.
Held under the theme โThe Extra Mile,โ this year's Customer Experience Month challenges UEDCL to go beyond its routine responsibilities and make a meaningful contribution to society through initiatives that save lives.
The Managing Director noted that the demand for blood remains critical, with mothers experiencing complications during childbirth, children suffering from severe anaemia and patients undergoing surgery among those who depend on timely access to safe blood.
โBy donating blood, you can help ensure that this essential resource is available in our country when lives depend on it,โ the Managing Director said, encouraging eligible staff, customers and members of the public to participate in the campaign.
The initiative is being coordinated by UEDCL's Customer Experience and Corporate Affairs teams, working with territory managers to mobilise employees and customers across the company's 15 territories. The target of 3,000 units is expected to be achieved through coordinated donation activities across the country.
The Managing Director commended the teams involved in organising the campaign and recognised the Uganda Blood Transfusion Service and the Uganda Red Cross Society for partnering with UEDCL to support the initiative.
She called on eligible employees to donate blood within their respective territories and encouraged them to mobilise family members, friends and customers to participate.
โOne of the easiest and most meaningful ways to save a life is through blood donation,โ he said, urging Ugandans to embrace regular voluntary donation as a lasting commitment to helping others.
Beyond the blood donation campaign, the Managing Director reaffirmed UEDCL's commitment to improving the quality and reliability of electricity supply through distribution network strengthening, substation upgrades, refurbishment of distribution lines and improvements in response times.
She said these interventions are intended to reduce power interruptions, improve service response and provide more reliable electricity to customers.
The Managing Director emphasised that UEDCL's customer experience commitment encompasses both reliable electricity services and a genuine concern for the welfare of the communities in which the company operates.
She urged stakeholders to sustain their participation in blood donation initiatives beyond the October campaign, expressing hope that the drive would become an annual tradition.

The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) has launched a nationwide blood donation drive targeting 3,000 units of blood across its 15 operational territories, reaffirming its commitment to community welfare as part of its Customer Experience Month activities.
The initiative, held under the theme โThe Extra Mile,โ brings together UEDCL, the Uganda Blood Transfusion Service and the Uganda Red Cross Society in a joint effort to strengthen the country's blood supply and support patients who depend on transfusions to survive.
Speaking at the launch, the UEDCL Managing Director said the campaign reflects the company's belief that customer service extends beyond providing reliable electricity to making a meaningful difference in the lives of the communities it serves.
The Managing Director noted that while UEDCL continues to focus on improving electricity distribution, it also recognises its broader social responsibility to promote health and save lives.
The blood donation drive is being coordinated by UEDCL's Customer Experience and Corporate Affairs teams, working with territory managers to mobilise staff, customers and other community members across the company's 15 territories.
The Managing Director commended the teams involved in organising the campaign and encouraged all eligible employees and customers to participate, while mobilising friends, relatives and other members of the public to donate blood.
He also reaffirmed UEDCL's commitment to improving electricity supply through distribution network strengthening, substation upgrades, refurbishment of distribution lines and improvements in response times.
Representing the Uganda Blood Transfusion Service Executive Director, Dr Dorothy, Mr Mugisha commended UEDCL and other partners for supporting efforts to ensure the availability of blood for patients in need.
He reported that annual blood collection had increased from 460,000 to approximately 475,000 units, highlighting the contribution of partnerships and voluntary donors to the country's blood supply. He called for sustained public participation to ensure that blood remains available for medical emergencies, surgery, childbirth complications and patients with blood disorders.
Mr Mugisha also urged religious institutions, cultural leaders, Members of Parliament, corporate organisations and other community stakeholders to make blood donation a shared civic responsibility.
He emphasised that the need for blood cannot be eliminated entirely, even with improvements in healthcare and preventive services, making regular donations essential to sustaining transfusion services.
Uganda Red Cross Society Secretary General Robert Kwesiga similarly called for stronger partnerships and continuous community mobilisation to maintain a reliable blood supply. He explained that blood donation campaigns must be sustained throughout the year rather than treated as isolated events.
Kwesiga noted that taking donation activities closer to workplaces, schools, religious institutions and other community settings helps broaden participation and strengthen national blood collection efforts.
He commended UEDCL for extending its corporate social responsibility to a life-saving cause and expressed the Uganda Red Cross Society's commitment to continued collaboration with the company and other partners.
The speakers called on eligible Ugandans to embrace voluntary blood donation and encourage others to participate, noting that a single donation can help save lives.
The campaign forms part of UEDCL's October Customer Experience Month, through which the company seeks to go beyond its core electricity distribution mandate and demonstrate care for the well-being of its customers and the wider community.

The Uganda Red Cross Society has called for stronger partnerships and sustained community mobilisation to ensure a reliable supply of blood for transfusion services across Uganda.
Speaking during a blood donation drive organised in partnership with the Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL), Uganda Red Cross Society Secretary General Robert Kwesiga commended the company for supporting the initiative, describing blood donation as a critical contribution to saving lives.
Kwesiga emphasised that the need for blood cannot be eliminated, even with improvements in healthcare and preventive services, as patients continue to require transfusions due to accidents, medical emergencies and other health conditions.
He noted that ensuring blood availability requires consistent collection efforts rather than relying on occasional donation campaigns, particularly because demand for blood continues throughout the year.
โThe question is how do we make it available?โ he said, highlighting the importance of building sustainable blood transfusion services that can respond to patients' needs whenever they arise.
Kwesiga explained that the Uganda Red Cross Society has been taking blood donation campaigns closer to communities by engaging workplaces, schools, religious institutions, cultural institutions and corporate organisations.
He noted that partnerships with community-based institutions have helped sustain blood collection efforts, including during periods when schools and other institutions were closed.
The Secretary General also called for broader collaboration with companies and other stakeholders to expand the reach of blood donation initiatives and strengthen the country's capacity to meet transfusion needs.
He reaffirmed the Uganda Red Cross Society's commitment to working with UEDCL and other partners to promote voluntary blood donation and ensure that blood is available to patients when needed.

The Uganda Blood Transfusion Service has reported an increase in annual blood collection from 460,000 units to approximately 475,000 units, attributing the progress to partnerships and the continued contribution of voluntary blood donors.
Speaking at a blood donation drive organised in partnership with the Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL), Mr William Mugisha, representing the Executive Director of the Uganda Blood Transfusion Service, Dr Dorothy, commended corporate partners and individual donors for supporting the country's blood supply.
He described blood donation as a life-saving act and a form of corporate social responsibility that enables patients to access essential medical care when they need it most.
โWhen you choose to give blood, you have chosen to give life,โ he said, thanking donors for helping restore hope to patients and their families.
Mr Mugisha said the increase in blood collection demonstrated the value of partnerships in strengthening the country's capacity to meet transfusion needs. He encouraged organisations to maintain their support and make blood donation a continuous commitment rather than a one-off activity.
He further called on religious institutions, cultural leaders, political leaders, Members of Parliament and other community stakeholders to mobilise people to participate in voluntary blood donation.
He emphasised that blood donation is a civic responsibility that requires collective action, noting that the country needs a broad base of committed donors to sustain healthcare services.
The representative also highlighted the importance of blood and its components in treating patients with blood disorders, those requiring emergency transfusions and other people whose treatment depends on a reliable supply of safe blood.
He acknowledged the challenges involved in maintaining adequate blood stocks and urged Ugandans to respond by donating regularly and encouraging others to do the same.
The Uganda Blood Transfusion Service continues to work with public and private sector partners to mobilise voluntary donors and strengthen the availability of blood for patients across the country.

The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has recorded an overall customer satisfaction score of 82%, exceeding its annual target of 80%, as the Corporation commits to addressing concerns around water supply reliability, billing, customer care and communication.
Presenting the Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) findings at the NWSC Baraza 2026, Mr Serumaga said the survey drew responses from approximately 18,000 customers across 133 areas, providing insights into customer experiences and expectations.
The survey, conducted through telephone interviews, achieved a response rate of 90% and assessed key service areas, including water supply reliability, water quality, billing, complaint resolution, customer care, payment convenience and communication about service interruptions.
Greater Kampala Metropolitan Region recorded the highest customer satisfaction score at 85%, followed by the Eastern Region at 81% and the Western and Southwestern regions at 80%. The Central and Northern regions each recorded 77%.
Mr Serumaga noted that the overall score had improved compared with the previous financial year, with Greater Kampala Metropolitan Region registering the most notable improvement, partly attributed to interventions aimed at reducing complaints and keeping customers informed.
Despite the progress, the findings identified water supply reliability as a major concern, with approximately 30% of respondents raising issues relating to the consistency of supply. The Corporation acknowledged that some customers continue to experience limited supply hours rather than a continuous 24-hour service.
Billing and bill delivery were also highlighted, with about 20% of respondents expressing concerns, while approximately 18% raised issues regarding customer care. A further 20% cited inadequate service updates, particularly regarding interruptions and planned works.
Other concerns included complaint resolution, with customers calling for quicker responses, and payment convenience, as some consumers remain unfamiliar with available digital payment platforms. Respondents also called for clearer communication regarding water disconnections and reconnections.
Mr Serumaga emphasised that customer feedback remains central to NWSCโs efforts to improve service delivery, noting that the findings would inform interventions to address gaps and strengthen responsiveness.
He called for stronger collaboration with local leaders and other stakeholders to ensure customers receive timely and accurate information about service interruptions, planned works and available payment options.
The Corporation is also encouraging greater customer awareness of electronic billing and digital payment channels while working to improve complaint-handling mechanisms and communication with consumers.
The findings reinforce NWSCโs commitment to placing customers at the centre of its operations, with the Corporation seeking to translate the positive satisfaction score into more reliable water supply, improved customer care and better service experiences across its areas of operation. @nwscug @NWSCMD

The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding access to safe, reliable and affordable water services, while strengthening collaboration with local leaders to address challenges affecting communities.
Speaking during the NWSC Baraza 2026, Managing Director Dr Silver Mugisha emphasised the importance of regular engagements between the Corporation and leaders to review performance, discuss infrastructure development and identify practical solutions to water service delivery challenges.
He noted that the Corporation intends to meet stakeholders every six months to strengthen coordination and ensure that the concerns of communities are addressed.
Mugisha said NWSC remains focused on extending water services to more people, reducing the distances communities travel to access water, minimising waterborne diseases and improving public health and productivity.
He emphasised that water is a basic human right and called for collective efforts to make it more accessible and affordable, particularly for communities that continue to face difficulties obtaining reliable supplies.
The Managing Director also highlighted the importance of accountability, noting that the Corporationโs growth and performance must translate into tangible improvements in the services received by the public.
He described local leaders as important partners in service delivery because of their understanding of the needs and challenges facing the communities they represent.
The engagement also provided an opportunity for NWSC to share updates on completed, ongoing and planned infrastructure projects, while openly discussing constraints affecting implementation.
Mugisha explained that rapid urban growth and the emergence of new residential and commercial developments continue to increase demand for water, requiring the Corporation to expand distribution networks, install larger pipes and upgrade existing infrastructure.
He acknowledged concerns arising from road excavations during the installation of water pipelines but appealed for public understanding and cooperation, noting that the works are necessary to extend services to more communities.
He further observed that access challenges in some areas are linked not only to distribution networks but also to the availability of sufficient water supplies. Addressing these challenges requires investment in both water production and distribution infrastructure.
The Managing Director called on leaders to actively participate in discussions, raise area-specific concerns and work with NWSC to identify priorities and practical interventions.
He said stronger collaboration between the Corporation and its stakeholders would be essential to improving service delivery and ensuring that more Ugandans access safe, reliable and affordable water.
The NWSC Baraza provides a platform for accountability, dialogue and stakeholder engagement, enabling the Corporation to review its performance, communicate planned interventions and strengthen partnerships in the delivery of water and sanitation services.
