Federal Treasury forecasts show over 2.2 million in net overseas migration between the 2022-23 and 2027-28 financial years. The Federal Budget outlines expectations of continued high migration, averaging roughly 245,000 net new arrivals per year as the government targets a reduction in immigration from its post-pandemic surge.
The two million figure is a cumulative total cited by Opposition and Coalition figures based on extended Treasury forecasts. It aggregates projected net overseas migration numbers over a six-year period to emphasize the scale of population growth..
This intake has been heavily criticized by the Coalition and independent analysts for outpacing infrastructure and housing construction, with concerns it worsens affordability and community pressures. Conversely, the government points to recent data indicating that total arrivals are down from their 2023 peaks, and has capped the permanent migration program at 185,000 places for 2026-27.

My prediction for the next big ALP tax hike: a tax on unrealised capital gains.
They've tried to introduce this twice already, Treasury views unrealised gains as an "interest-free loan from the government" and they've got no clue how unfair this is.
Vote the ALP out in 2028.

What if I told you the government could now tax you at more than 100% of your real investment gains? It sounds absurd, but that's exactly what can happen. In this video I explain how it can happen, why it's an unintended consequence of the new capital gains tax, and the steps investors can take to reduce the impact.
If you own shares or ETFs, this is something you need to understand.

Jim Chalmers and Anthony Albanese have instructed treasury to model the savings of applying the family home to the means test to access the pension.
Jim and Albanese hate the fact older Aussies live in a house with a backyard.
If your home is valued over $500,000, you will be refused a full pension.
Heartless stuff from Labor. The worst mob this country has had.

My business (and I personally) will qualify for the proposed tech startup carve out… but it's terrible policy.
If these tax changes are so damaging that the Government needs to create special exemptions for tech companies and a subset of small businesses, that's an admission the underlying policy has serious flaws.
Why should founders, employees and investors in one industry get relief while everyone else wears the cost??
What about the medium-sized manufacturers, retailers, healthcare businesses, agricultural businesses, professional services firms and the thousands of ASX-listed companies that employ millions of Australians?
And what about the 7.7 million Australians who invest in shares outside super? They don't get a carve out despite facing much higher tax on successful long term investments. That gaping hole in the policy hasn't been fixed!
This $77 billion transfer from the productive private sector and aspirational younger Australians to government will make Australia less competitive, discourage investment, productivity and entrepreneurship, and push more capital towards foreign investors who are often exempt from Australian CGT altogether.
It's a massive own goal for the country.

Why does a mum and dad investor pay twice the tax of a business owner with revenue up to ten million per year?
How on earth is this equity?
Why is a uni student working part time paying a minimum of 30% tax on their stocks?
Band-Aid solution for a complete mess of a budget.

Keating announced the 'Recession we had to have'.
@AlboMP and @JEChalmers should call this the recession we did NOT have to have.
It's entirely self-inflicted. And by 'self' I mean them. They inflicted it upon us.

Yes. Millennials and Gen Z show higher participation in stocks, ETFs, and especially crypto than Gen X or Boomers—often to build wealth toward home deposits amid high property prices. Australian data reflects the same trend.

Albo needs to change the announced CGT changes to apply to housing only.
There is no reason to apply it to stocks.
It’s pure greed.

Jacinta Allan is done for...
When word of this story spreads, the revolt in the bush will become the biggest in Australian history.
Land owners are liable for failed renewables projects on their land, that's now confirmed, and that means that Jacinta Allan and her 'compulsory acquisitions' are a time-bomb being lit under landowners.

Unrealized gains tax for Gen-Z:
You buy a Pokémon card for $50.
Someone offers you $500 for it. You say no. You love that card. You're keeping it.
The government says: "Cool, but that card is worth $500 now. You owe us $100 in taxes."
You: "…I didn't sell it."
Government: "Don't care. Pay up."
You don't have $100 lying around. So you're forced to sell the card you love just to pay a tax on money you never received.
Next month? That card drops back to $50.
Your card is gone. Your money is gone. And the government shrugs.
That's a wealth tax on unrealized gains. They don't pay you back the tax...
Now picture this.
Your mom calls you crying. She has to sell the house she raised you in. Not because she can't afford it. She's lived there 30 years. It's paid off.
But some website says it's worth more now and the government says she owes $15,000 she doesn't have.
So she sells your childhood home. The kitchen where she made you breakfast. The doorframe where she marked your height every birthday.
Gone.
To pay a tax on money that was never real.
Now picture the opposite.
Your dad put everything into his small business. For 20 years he built it from nothing. One year the business is "valued" at $2 million on paper. He owes a massive tax bill. He empties his savings. Sells his truck. Borrows money. Pays it.
Next year the market crashes. His business is worth $200,000.
He lost everything to pay a tax on a number that doesn't exist anymore.
Does the government give him his money back?
No.
Does the government give him his truck back?
No.
Does the government care?
No.
They sold this idea as "taxing billionaires." But billionaires have armies of lawyers, offshore accounts, and trusts. They'll be fine.
You know who won't be fine? Your mom. Your dad. Your neighbor with a small business. The farmer down the road who's had the same land for four generations and now has to sell it because dirt got expensive.
You're not taxing wealth. You're taxing people for owning things.
It's like getting a parking ticket for a car you might drive somewhere someday.
They want you to own nothing and be happy. To fund the fraud, waste and abuse of the welfare state they created.
There is enough money. More tax isn't needed. It's all a lie. But you've been gaslit into believing this is a rich vs poor debate.
I hope you understand what's at stake.

Under Albanese’s rushed "Hate Speech" legislation a radical Islamic hate preacher will have legislative protection to say;
"Wherever you find them, besiege them, capture them, kill them use every stratagem, lie in wait for them on every way"
But if you say;
"People saying the above should be deported from Australia" or "We shouldn’t be importing people into Australia from countries who hold these values"
- you will face arrest and jail.
Albanese is exploiting the Bondi massacre to make it illegal to criticise his mass migration policies, while at very same time giving legal protection to the preaching of the ideas that inspired the Bondi terrorist to murder innocent women and children.
Every Australian must raise their voice and oppose this rushed disgraceful piece of legislation.

Got the exact same notification and 20 page letter for one of my posts about Iryna Zarutska’s murder. The Australian "eSafety commissioner" threatened to fine X $825,000 (AUD) for each day the post would remain up, so it’s now no longer visible in Australia.
To summarize that for you: Australians are paying taxes so bureaucrats can censors posts from European activists talking about the murder of a Ukrainian woman in America.
