Never seen the parkway like this, but I’ve never been up on big tourist days. Did hit skyline drive last year and that was a bit of a nuisance, but government was shut down so entrance was free. They can charge because it’s part of the national forest, but mainly because foreigners and NOVA rubes will fork over money to see nature.

I’ve noticed that cyclists are pretty adamant about drivers following laws, especially the ones that cater to cyclists. I’ve also noticed that most cyclists completely ignore most any other law motorists follow. They blow through stop signs, turn at lights when they are red, weave in and out of traffic, and never bother to move over for faster traffic. Goes both ways.
