But the promoters who have been cancelled by literally every major media platform know exactly what they're doing. Same people who have never raised a single penny from sharp money. Just leech off networks who inevitably dump them.
Compare @Zuffa_Boxing to Eddie Hearn's disastrous entry into the US Market in 2018. Fell flat on his face. Compare Zuffa to ponzi scheme PBC, homeless Top Rank and Low IQ Oscar. I'd say Zuffa is doing pretty well.
Replying to @FrontRowBrian
Zuffa boxing will die on its ass. They are a bunch of amateurs who don't have a clue about the business. Horrific look for TKO.
The #Mets truly are cursed. Soto should force a trade back to NYY. And I'm a Mets fan.
That's not accurate. Ngannou's contract expired. He wasn't released. Contract had a sunset provision -hard end date regardless of champion status or # of fights left on deal.
In the last 20 years, UFC has not granted a release to anyone of note that they had a legitimate contractual right to.
You could argue Demetrious Johnson. He was released but with caveat that he was being traded.
There were a few who left over USADA related issues but they were mainly fighters in the end of their careers who wanted to sign with Bellator.
UFC doesn't release guys just because they ask. Shakur Stevenson was by far Zuffa's biggest signing and they just let him go. I think that's speaks more to Shakur than anything else.
Not a single UFC fighter in the Top 15 could ask for his release and receive it. That's how radioactive Stevenson is. Now he can fight on DAZN for the same (if he's lucky) or less money than Zuffa was willing to pay. 4-D Chess from Shakur Stevenson.
🚨 HOW MANY FIGHTERS HAS DANA WHITE ACTUALLY LET WALK AFTER THEY ASKED TO LEAVE? 👀🥊
Shakur Stevenson just got his release from Zuffa Boxing after requesting it.
But he’s not the only name worth remembering. Francis Ngannou also left the UFC after contract negotiations broke down, and Dana confirmed the promotion would release him.
😂 WHO ELSE AM I FORGETTING? Drop the names below‼️

per @Sean_Zittel.
today it’s reported @ShakurStevenson was offered @rayoboxing in Newark for 7 million💰he turned it down with asking price of 15 million - one of the key reasons why Shakur Stevenson and @Zuffa_Boxing came to a mutual agreement to terminate the contract.

Yup.
‼️HOW MANY TIMES HAS DANA WHITE WILLINGLY LET A FIGHTER GO WHEN THEY REQUESTED TO LEAVE BESIDES SHAKUR STEVENSON⁉️
This is the 1st time I’ve seen it, if anybody else knows another fighter please let me know‼️
😂😂

🥊🥊🥊🥊
No. He signed a long term extension. The extensions are front loaded.
Say it’s an 8 fight deal. The big money is in the front half of the deal. Lower money on backend as placeholder.
If those fights actually happen, they’d just renegotiate and do another long term deal.
Goal is to lock in fighters long term.
He would have to repay many millions. Probably over $20 million.
Can Jon Jones request a release like Shakur Stevenson so we can go ahead and do this Francis Ngannou vs Jon Jones fight?
They already said they are never working with Francis. So let Jon fly and we can give the fans what they want. Please and thank you.

Big News!!!
Shakur Stevenson has wore out his welcome at Zuffa, & has been released, will now reputedly start his own promotional company.
What most need to understand is Zuffa doesn't need aggravation signings, fight the big fights, stop trying to dictate everything, & you'll get paid very well. Shakur obviously missed that memo.
Boxing has away of revealing truths.

'The DAZN Sports Media Group's statutory operating loss for 2025 increased to $939.8 million from $772.9 million.'
DAZN Sports Media Limited (2025)
- Revenue: $3.8 billion (+22.2% YoY) - Driven by the FIFA Club World Cup, growth in subscribers, ARPU, and advertising.
- Direct-to-consumer (subscriptions, distribution, ads): ~$3.65 billion.
- DAZN Bet: ~$83 million.
- Broadcast Partnerships: ~$63 million.
- Operating loss: $939.8 million (worsened from $772.9 million in 2024). Mainly due to higher rights costs for the Club World Cup.
- Rights costs: ~$3.01 billion.
- Total operating costs: ~$4.74 billion (including intercompany management charges).
- Net liabilities worsened significantly.
In 2025, DAZN Sports Media Group generated revenues of $3,799.7 million, an increase of $690.9 million or 22.2% compared to the prior year (2024: $3,108.8 million).
The significant driver of the increase is due to the continued growth of the Group across a wide range of sports and the growing demand for streaming. Revenue from DAZN Sports Media Group's direct-to-consumer business ('Consumer') increased by $631.9 million or 20.9% to $3,653.4 million (2024: $3,021.5 million).
The revenue in the year has increased through broadcasting the FIFA Club World Cup and underlying growth in ARPU, subscribers, and advertising
The DAZN Sports Media Group's statutory operating loss increased to $939.8 million from $772.9 million. This was largely driven by increased rights spend on the FIFA Club World Cup, offset by profits from acquisitions in the betting market, higher revenues and further reductions in specific areas of operating costs.
The reductions have been achieved through restructuring organisational headcount, targeted production and marketing costs and efficiency on marketing. On the balance sheet, the net liabilities position has weakened from $1,246.7 million to $2,409.5 million, being a movement of $1,162.8 million (93.3%).
The net current liabilities position increased to $2,107.8 million from $1,022.8 million. Both movements are largely driven through an increase in amounts due to group undertakings, via intercompany loans, which are repayable on demand.
DAZN told SportBusiness today (Thursday) that the DAZN Sports Media Limited results “cover a subset of the wider DAZN Group and therefore do not reflect the whole group”.
The operating loss compares to the $772.9m loss reported by DAZN Sports Media 12 months earlier. The operating loss for the wider DAZN Group Limited, which has not yet filed its 2025 accounts, was $877.5m in 2024.

RE Skakur.
The most logical explanation is Netflix pulled the undercard budget significantly for the Fury AJ fight because the venue is now Cardiff.
So they pivoted to Skakur v Haney in ATL on 11/28 and Shakur wimped out over 2 pounds and rehydration.
Tells you a lot of Shakur. TKO/Zuffa doesn’t have a history of just releasing people who request their release. There are dozens of examples dating back over 2 decades. They signed him with good intentions and realized this guy ain’t a real fighter. Would rather argue on X.
👀 Shakur Stevenson on his release from Zuffa Boxing: "I've been working my ass off, staying focused, staying in shape. I've been in camp for like 8 weeks preparing for fights that I was told was gonna happen and it has not happened but look it is what it is. This is the business of boxing. I'm not mad at anyone. I'm not pointing no fingers. Upon all of these issues and things that's been going on, I've requested to be released from Zuffa Boxing. Over the weekend my request has been granted and I'm now officially a free agent. This time, I want to tell the fans and tell everyone in the public that I'm now taking my career in my own hands and I'm starting my own promotional company and I'm willing to work with other promoters and anybody else that's out there that's willing to be serious about my career as I am about my career."
I knew something was off when the Manny Pacquaio rumors surfaced. Why? 2 decades younger and can’t draw shit at the box office. Why would manny want a dance partner like that?
For the best. Stevenson is a boring fighter who can’t draw flies. He had an opportunity to fight Haney and found a way out. Whining about 2 pounds. This is not a proper fighting man.

The current brain trust at UFC took the UFC from a $4 billion enterprise in 2016 to $20 billion now but YouTube super chat merchants know better. These people, folks. These fuckin people.

Jake could be the most affected by the dismissal of Bella Bajaria at Netflix. If you remember, Jake bounced around a lot of places before landing at Netflix. Showtime and ESPN could never make any money. Showtime got KILLED. That was Espinoza’s swan song. That was PPV model.
