The Canadian government is planning mining infrastructure on First Nations’ land without their consent. The infrastructure would allow mining in the ‘Ring of Fire’ mineral deposit in northern Ontario. Forensic Architecture worked with Neskantaga First Nation and Infrastructure Beyond Extractivism to document Neskantaga’s jurisdiction along the route of a planned mining road. Drawing on interviews with elders and land users, community mapping, remote sensing and spatial analysis, the investigation traces Neskantaga's historic relation to the land. The resulting maps show that extractive infrastructure is planned on top of a dense Indigenous ecological and cultural fabric. Watch the full film here: forensic-architecture.org/in…

NEW ANALYSIS — In Gaza, Israel’s ongoing destruction during the so-called ceasefire is desecrating the bodies of Palestinians which remain beneath the rubble. Our analysis of videos and satellite imagery finds military practices of demolition, compaction and removal of rubble. These risk making the recovery of Palestinian remains impossible in the 65% of Gaza under Israel’s control.

NEW INVESTIGATION w/@earshot_ngo: In the early hours of 23 March 2025, in Tel al-Sultan, Gaza, two convoys of ambulances were ambushed by Israeli military personnel. Fifteen aid workers died in a hail of over 800 bullets; by the time dawn broke, Israeli bulldozers were burying the ambulances, seeking to conceal evidence of the attack. The Last Responders tells the story of this attack in painstaking detail, drawing on interviews with witnesses from @PalestineRCS, digital reconstruction, and audio analysis of phonecalls made by the victims as they came under attack. vimeo.com/1182944295

This month, the Israeli military announced an investigation into the massacre. But past experience, such as in the case of the 2022 killing of Shireen Abu Akleh, shows that internal investigations like these commonly only serve to delay or obscure justice, and fail to produce criminal charges. NEW INVESTIGATION — In Gaza, Israel is supporting Palestinian militias operating within the area it controls. It provides these groups with resources and relative freedom of movement. In return, they carry out operations which serve Israel’s agenda, operating checkpoints and attacking Palestinians. This model suggests the kind of governance it wants to impose on Gaza.

In Gaza, the Israeli military is installing gates between the earth berms which mark the ‘yellow line’. Similar to those used in the West Bank, the new gates allow Israel to further control the movement of people and goods in and out of the area where Palestinians are concentrated. They are part of a system of Israeli military infrastructure that extends and consolidates its control during the ceasefire.

It's four and a half months since the Minab school bombing. We've been investigating. Experts told us all the evidence points to US responsibility, and a Pentagon source told us their investigation blames "human error". Our findings show the scale of the intelligence failure.
