In 2011, Flow helped rally South Africa to make Table Mountain one of the New7Wonders of Nature. And Roy was right there for it.
Archbishop Desmond Tutu lent his voice to the campaign, too, although there was one small challenge: getting the Arch to pronounce “Mxit”. 😂
More than a decade later, Roy still remembers the laughs, the excitement and what it meant to be part of a campaign that got South Africans behind something so special.
As we celebrate 21 years of Flow, we’re looking back at the work that became part of our story and, sometimes, part of South Africa’s story too.

We created the event collateral and a social media toolkit to guide communications around the announcement. We also produced video content, handled the media and ran social content before, during and after the reveal.
Here’s a peek at what we got up to.

Do you know what makes a great social media campaign work?
We're looking for two new Flowstars to join our social media team: a midweight/senior social media manager and a junior social media manager.
Oh, and did we mention we're fully remote? Your home office is our office, but you’ll need to be comfortable getting out into the field for client meetings, events and content gathering when required.
Think you’ve got what it takes to be our next Flowstar? Or know someone who does?
Send your CV to applications@flowsa.com.
Applications close on 21 October 2026.

Do you thrive when a dozen moving parts need to land on the same day? Can you turn a project brief into a running campaign? Then we want to hear from you.
Think one of these positions has your name on it, or know someone who’d crush it from their home office? Email your CV to applications@flowsa.com or see the full details at flowsa.com/careers.
Applications close on 30th of October 2026.

Digital rights in the age of AI. Realistically, with hundreds of millions of people across Africa lacking the internet, a digital revolution is unfolding that risks leaving vulnerable communities behind, writes Thrishni Subramoney from @FlowComms. themediaonline.co.za/2026/10…
We asked Flow’s head of design, Elmarie Harrington, who has been with us for 11 years, about her favourite Flow memories. The year-end parties are right up there.
Even a global pandemic didn’t stop Flowstars from dressing up. When the world moved to Zoom, the costumes came along too.
For Elmarie, her years at Flow have brought tears, endless laughter and plenty of moments of pure joy. It’s those memories – and the people she’s shared them with – that have stayed with her.
