Great primer on one of the most significant changes to @Filecoin rewards system since launch. Live Oct. 19
The hardest part of decentralized governance isn't voting. It's incentives. For six years, Filecoin rewarded the creation of storage capacity. Now, we're taking a major step toward rewarding something fundamentally different: paying customers. Here's why Solstice matters. 🧵

Happy 6th birthday, Filecoin! 🎉 This year’s gift? A new economic flywheel built for the AI era: 🤖 More customers (AI agents, Fil.one, IPFS) → Recurring onchain revenue 💸 → Usage-based provider rewards (Solstice) 🏆 → Better services 💪 → More customers 🔁 From incentivizing storage capacity to rewarding real demand. Here’s to the next era of Filecoin! 🚀
Major developments to Filecoin tokenomics and strategy that go live this month 💫 1. Rewarding customer acquisition & retention with new network reward mechanics 2. End of vesting built into the genesis block completes, reducing daily token supply growth 3. New products for enterprises and AI agents 🧵

The trillion $ RWA market needs immutable provenance records for offchain data that proves asset ownership, value and manages compliance+insurance risks. Filecoin+IPFS cryptographically tie an onchain asset to an immutable, auditable record of the data supporting it, with the performance of S3 storage for a fraction of the cost. RWAs on @avax have a head start. Get in touch if you’re building.
.@shanvasion is at Avalanche Summit for Filecoin. New architecture content-addresses deeds and appraisals behind tokenized RWAs via IPFS, stores them on Filecoin with storage proofs, and anchors them onchain on @avax. Testnet demo is up now. Read more: filecoin.io/blog/Real-world-…

IPFS is evolving. Filecoin is here to support what comes next. We’re making it easier to keep the data already living on IPFS durable, portable, and verifiable. Introducing IPFS → Filecoin. Store your IPFS pins with Filecoin: same CIDs, a fraction of what pinning services charge, and an onchain receipt you can verify yourself.

1/ The CLARITY Act, which would finally set rules of the road for digital assets in the U.S., is awaiting a key full-floor Senate vote. The bill defines which tokens are digital commodities under CFTC oversight and which are securities under the SEC, and gives builders a workable path to launch and decentralize without guessing which regulator shows up later. Here's where things stand and why we support CLARITY. 🧵

1/4 A new proposal called Solstice would reorient Filecoin’s rewards structure towards a services economy. This is one of the biggest changes to network incentives since Filecoin launched. What it proposes, and how it got here: filecoin.io/blog/Solstice-To…

Replying to @Cloudflare
buyers have to know the data they paid for is the data that was listed, and provenance records and verifiable storage put proof behind the sale

Moving one petabyte out of AWS costs $90,000. Moving 100 petabytes takes 92 days at maximum network speed. Compute gets all the attention. Data location is where AI infrastructure gets stuck. @JamesKurzFIL on data gravity at @ethconf today, 3:00 pm, Breakout Stage.

GitLab lost six hours of production data because backup paths that were assumed to work silently didn't. A checksum proves a file hasn't changed. It can't prove the restored version is the right one. Filecoin's storage proofs answer the question of whether it stayed intact.
