Canada opposes Israel’s approval of 22 new settlements in the West Bank and calls on Israel to reverse this decision. Israeli settlements in the occupied territories violate international law and undermine prospects for lasting peace and security via the two-state solution.

As an Ismaili Muslim, I am devastated by the news of the passing of His Highness the Aga Khan.
As a Canadian and a citizen of the world, I also mourn the loss of one of the greatest servants of humanity but I am also deeply grateful for his extraordinary life of service. Countless lives have been lifted out of poverty, and countless communities around this world have thrived because of him.
My own family, and every Canadian Ismaili family, owes everything we are and everything we have to his leadership and guidance.
This is a period of mourning and indescribable grief for all in our faith community. /1
His Highness Prince Aga Khan has passed away at the age of 88. A very difficult day for Ismaili Muslims around the world.
His Highness Prince Karim Al-Hussaini, Aga Khan IV, 49th hereditary Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims and direct descendant of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), passed away peacefully in Lisbon on 4 February 2025, aged 88, surrounded by his family. Prince Karim Aga Khan was the founder and chairman of the Aga Khan Development Network.
The announcement of his designated successor will follow.
Leaders and staff of the Aga Khan Development Network offer our condolences to the family of His Highness and to the Ismaili community worldwide. As we honour the legacy of our founder, Prince Karim Aga Khan, we continue to work with our partners to improve the quality of life for individuals and communities across the world, as he wished, irrespective of their religious affiliations or origins.
Timing is everything...

A moment in history. Trudeau speaking to his caucus @CBCNews. Will he resign?
Chrystia Freeland's resignation feels a lot like the Biden debate debacle moment. Will Justin Trudeau continue to lead or leave?

The delusion of a Prime Minister to think he can pre-fire a long loyal Finance Minister, then ask her to deliver the Fall Economic Statement, and then humiliate her a day later by bringing in an unelected outsider to fix her mistakes is the absolute apex of incompetence.

Something that Tanya Talaga said a couple of weeks ago that hasn’t left me: when you think of Murray, think of the weight of hearing thousands of accounts of untold horror, and the toll it would take on your body. Think of taking that on. cbc.ca/news/politics/murray-…

Last gala (Nov 2, 2023), the killing of multiple journalists in Israeli strikes was essentially ignored. Since then, 116 have died (@pressfreedom). This year I sincerely hope Israel's silencing of human rights journalism amounts to much more than a brief mention by @LisaLaFlamme_
