Remember when you could tell when a site was built in Webflow? It had a distinct feel, but over time that giveaway disappeared. AI is going through the exact same phase right now. We're still so early.

A lot of consumer laziness makes sense when you realize many people aren’t using computers anymore. Eg. It’s hard to research a purchase with 20 tabs on your phone. Buying with Muse is much easier. Big blindspot for tech people who live on Macbooks.

I actually enjoy helping people in the airport, and public transit stations. Can teach them something and make them feel more confident about transit.
At airport just finished checking in using a kiosk. Guy appears, he doesn’t even try to use the kiosk. “How do I use this sir” You just scan your passport. “Oh” He does it and it works. “Now where do I put my baggage” “Baggage drop, like it says” “Oh”

Something I noticed about resilient people: They don't have fewer problems. They have faster reset times. Bad news hits at 9am. By 10am, they're back to their priorities. They feel it, process it, and move. The speed of the reset matters more than the size of the setback. – at Winthrop, MA

I know perception matters when it comes to public transit but... Toronto's Union Station is already quite safe. By all means, raise the standard for safety and cleanliness.
More than a quarter of a million people pass through Union Station every day. It should make commuters feel safe, visitors feel welcome, and investors feel like they’ve arrived in a city that has its act together. As Mayor, I’ll put a permanent, visible police presence inside Union Station and raise the standard for safety and cleanliness across our transit system. Toronto can do better. Real change means setting a higher standard. And delivering real results. Join us: bradford26.ca/sign-up

One of the lesser-known stories in Canada’s 9/11 history: Prime Minister Chrétien authorized NORAD fighter jets to shoot down Korean Air Flight #KE85, bound for New York City, in 🇨🇦 airspace. This is one of the only times a PM has personally intercepted a military decision. The scare was caused by a transponder mistake and landed without incident in Whitehorse, YT.

We should instead let China win the AI race. 🫡
I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.

Canada gave us something incredible. 🇨🇦 A completely tax free account. No income limits. No penalties for withdrawal. Room that accumulates every year. $583/month from age 25 ≈ $2,000,000 by 65. Tax free. Forever. CRA gets nothing. Most countries don't have an account this powerful. We do. All we have to do is use it.
