in 1890, white supremacists met to design Mississippi’s constitution, with stated goal of excluding Black people.
So they set up a list of specific felonies for which you’d lost right to vote for life: only felonies they thought Black people would be likelier to be convicted of.

ALT Duties OFCIO sets government-wide policy and drives the federal government's strategic goals in technology and cybersecurity. OFCIO is also responsible for implementing and overseeing relevant policies, laws, and federal initiatives. For example, OFCIO sets policy requiring agencies to encrypt traffic to federal websites, oversees agency implementation of public-facing vulnerability disclosure policies, and is driving a technology-forward approach to zero trust architecture across the federal government. This position will serve as a Cybersecurity Analyst who works directly with the Federal Chief Information Security Officer to advance the Administration's cybersecurity priorities through oversight and policy development. The position is responsible for conducting in-depth analysis of relevant information security issues, and provides expert advice to senior White House officials on these matters.
My friend Jo!!! I'm teary with pride at her being a part of this.
Fabulous 90th birthday tea at the Savoy for @DameStephanie_ hosted by the BCS President, Gillian Arnold, with @adamsonjulia and Jo Stansfield. Such a lovely occasion. @DameStephanie_ was the first female President of @bcs 1989-1990. Always an inspiration

And if you are wondering what happened to my stance on Covid and conferences....
RustConf has a strong Covid policy. Between that and retaining a remote option (with some extras just for them), I've been very impressed. rustconf.com/covid

Something good but easy to miss happened: LA got permission from HUD to relax identification requirements for unhoused people seeking housing. It's a small but important change that will make housing people easier.
