On the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we honour the Survivors of residential schools, their families and communities, and remember the children who never came home. 🧡 Elections Ontario is committed to working with Indigenous communities to ensure that First Nations, Métis, and Inuit electors can fully participate in provincial elections. To make voting easier for Indigenous electors, we provide resources in Indigenous languages about voter registration and voting. Accessible voting matters. 🗳️ We're at the Inspiring Possibilities AGM & Conference, presented by Community Living Ontario, until September 17. We’re connecting with leaders, advocates and community members to inform them of our voting options and accessible tools and services we offer voters for provincial elections. Democracy is more than a vote. It's participation, representation, and making your voice heard. 🗳️ Today, we celebrated the International Day of Democracy with students at Hammarskjold High School, Confederation College and Lakehead University in Thunder Bay.

Our Chief Electoral Officer spoke with students about democratic participation, civic engagement, and the important role every voter plays in shaping Ontario's future. We were also excited to connect with high school students about the Ontario Register of Future Voters and the many ways our youth can get involved in our democracy. A big thank you to all the students, educators and school partners who joined us today and took part in these meaningful conversations.

Who knew democracy had a beat? 🥁🎧 Democracy is about more than elections. It’s about participation, representation, and having a voice in the decisions that shape our communities. Whether you’re learning about democracy for the first time, preparing to vote in the future, or encouraging others to get involved, every step toward civic participation matters. On #DemocracyDay, we’ll be speaking with students across northern Ontario, because every voice helps shape our future.
