Over $1 million in just 24 hours. Kanye West made sure DMX’s family received a major tribute after the legendary rapper’s passing in April 2021. Ye enlisted Balenciaga to design a limited edition DMX memorial shirt through his Yeezy brand, featuring X’s portrait, his birth and d*ath dates, and a special message honoring his legacy. The $200 shirts reportedly sold out within 24 hours, generating over $1 million in sales, with net proceeds benefiting DMX’s family. Swizz Beatz publicly thanked Kanye for the gesture: “Thank you my brother KANYE & Balenciaga for this amazing tribute. Long live the dog”. Kanye also helped produce DMX’s memorial at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, where his Sunday Service Choir performed in the late rapper’s honor.

Lil Durk’s legal battle just took another unexpected turn! A federal judge has ruled that Bill Essayli, the top federal prosecutor in Los Angeles whose office pursued the criminal case against Lil Durk, was unlawfully serving in his position. The ruling could open the door for Durk’s legal team to challenge Essayli’s authority and potentially raise new arguments in his ongoing federal case. Durk’s attorneys had previously questioned the legality of Essayli’s appointment, but their challenge was rejected. Now, the latest ruling could give them another opportunity to contest his authority, although it does not automatically invalidate any charges.

Timbaland credited Aaliyah with helping launch his career, revealing that she recognized his and Missy Elliott's talent when they were still trying to establish themselves in the industry. Despite not liking their original demo, Aaliyah wanted to work with them, leading to the creation of One in a Million and a sound that helped redefine R&B. Reflecting on her impact, Timbaland said: “She believed in my sound, believed in me and Missy as people and as creators, she knew we had something special”. He also described Aaliyah as the person responsible for putting him on the map, making it clear that her influence went far beyond her own records. Would R&B sound the same today without Aaliyah?

2Pac's delivery was so intense that even DJ Quik struggled to listen to it at full volume. Looking back at their time working together at Death Row Records, Quik revealed that Pac's aggression wasn't just something listeners could hear. It was powerful enough to influence his decisions behind the mixing board: “I never told anybody this, but some of the anger he would spit on the microphone unnerved me. It gave me chills. It was scary. So I would mix his vocals a little lower and let the music be loud. When you push him up, like on ‘Hit ’Em Up’, it’s scary. It affects my emotions. It feels like something is going to happen…like a train wreck. On ‘All Eyez on Me’, some of the vocals are a little lower because I wanted the music to take over. I didn’t want anything to happen to him.” Having known Tupac since his Digital Underground years, Quik also reflected on how dramatically his personality and artistic expression had evolved.

Eminem reportedly turned a Secret Service interrogation into a rap performance. Investigative journalist Jason Leopold revealed that when federal agents questioned Eminem over his lyrics about Donald Trump and his daughter Ivanka, they began reading the controversial lines aloud, only for Eminem to start rapping them right back. Speaking on the Lawyer Oyer podcast, Leopold recalled: “During the interview agents started reading Eminem’s lyrics about Trump and his daughter and Eminem started rapping back to the agent”. The investigation took place in 2018, following concerns about whether his lyrics represented an actual threat.

Kanye West really showed up at a $295 million mansion uninvited and ended up staying for four days. According to Jonathan Van Meter’s new book Citizen Kim, Ye pulled up to a massive Malibu estate without scheduling an appointment and rang the gate himself. When the owner hesitated to let him inside, Kanye reportedly compared himself to Elvis Presley, asking whether they would turn Elvis away if he showed up at their door. And somehow, the visit turned into a four day stay. Kanye reportedly set up an office by the pool and held business meetings because he wanted to experience working inside a home designed by architect Tadao Ando. The craziest part? Jay-Z and Beyoncé purchased that SAME mansion for $200 million in 2023.

50 Cent has another song reach the 1 BILLION Streams Club on Spotify. This time it's his all time street classic 'Many Men' off of his debut album 'Get Rich or Die Tryin'. The interesting thing is 'Many Men' never charted on the Billboard Hot 100 but went on to become one of 50's most iconic songs. As of 2023 the song is RIAA 3x Platinum. This is 50 Cent's 6th song to reach over 1 Billion Streams on Spotify as a lead artist and this 7th song overall. Do you guys still bump this classic today?

50 Cent believed he would’ve ended up d*ad or in prison if music hadn’t worked out. During an interview with John Norris, he looked back at the people he’d hustled alongside. Some had left that life behind while others had ended up incarcerated or lost their lives. When he considered where he might’ve been without rap, those were the people he thought about.

Jeezy explains how Kanye West made "I Got Money" become "Can't Tell Me Nothing" 🤯 Jeezy appeared as a guest on the All The Smoke podcast hosted by Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson and talked about the most memorable features he had in his career. He mentions Jay-Z and Ye as some of the main ones, explaining how his own track produced by Ye ended up becoming one of the most important tracks in Hip-Hop history. Ye had sent him the beat for "I Got Money" and later changed it to become what would be "Can't Tell Me Nothing". Not only did Jeezy manage to get a beat but he also got Ye to send him a verse for the "Put On" remix. Did you guys know how that came to be?
