Cinema is not primarily intellectual, but visceral, experiential. It shines in depictions of action and performance, horror and time. No novel could capture the genius of Jackie Chan.
I love cinema, but I wouldn’t say it’s on the same intellectual level as literature. I think we’ve been pretending it is for maybe a century, to make ourselves feel better about the latter’s decline.

I think the guy flipping burgers at McDonald’s should be able to afford rent, bills, and groceries with his paycheck alone. That’s kind of the whole point of having a job and I can’t believe this is considered a radical position for me to take.

At my Digger screening today there were some teenage boys and I heard this great exchange between them “Where’s Tom Cruise?” “That is Tom Cruise you fucking idiot” “Where?” “He’s DIGGER!”

"The television series Visionquest features the villain Ultron, who decided to kill everyone on Earth after seeing everything on the internet, despite the fact that the internet also hosts the Belgium techno-anthem 'Pump up the Jam'."
First look at Diane Morgan in Marvel's new series ‘VISIONQUEST’.

I think it’s cool that a movie that expensive from a major studio was marketed and released in a way that preserved the filmmaker’s intended viewing experience
Digger didn’t flop because it’s bad. It flopped because it was poorly marketed by a studio that PR’d this film without teasing its “twist.” But it doesn’t have to be a twist! Who cares. It’s how you SELL the movie: the performative spectacle, not as a mystery.

Honestly the first twist in Digger gets me excited and kinda relieved me, but that second twist was an absolute gut punch. I had to rethink everything. I just love that so much.

If a white person born in Australia can be Australian without Aboriginal ancestry, and a white person born in America can be American without Native American ancestry, why can't a Black person born in England be English without Anglo-Saxon ancestry?

So if we can't use Billboard 200 as a metric for determining whether an album is good or bad, what should we use???

digger’s more recent marketing revealing the big twist makes me glad i went to see it completely blind because nothing else will replicate the feeling of seeing it all fall into place for the very first time

It's actually so crazy that Bruno Mars never hopped on a Pharrell or Neptunes beat, shit would've been so good

Entirely Petty headline. Love it or not. And, yes, I do. The film delivers in scale, ambition and reach at a theatrical screen level. Daring, bold and Cinematically complex. Decidedly a Theatrical experience.
The theater experience won't change your mind on Digger, and the laughs that are there still will be when it hits HBO Max. Our review: bit.ly/4xOfs59

It's ridiculous to say a modern song has broken the record for weeks at no.1 when charts are no longer based on physical sales. They should have started over in the streaming age and let the old songs that sold millions of actual copies keep their laurels.
