I love stuff like this.
Today, the calendar makes a right triangle, for the last time this century. This Saturday is October 24, 2026. Write it as 10/24/26 or 24/10/26, and the same beautiful relationship appears: 10² + 24² = 26² 100 + 576 = 676 But here’s what makes today special. There are infinitely many Pythagorean triples. Only a handful fit our calendar. Using the rule month² + day² = (last two digits of the year)², the month cannot exceed 12, and the day cannot exceed 31. Those small limits leave exactly 12 qualifying dates in this century. Today is the last. The next will be March 4, 2105: 3² + 4² = 5² That is a wait of more than 78 years. An infinite family of triangles. Just twelve appearances on a century’s calendar. Happy Pythagorean Triple Day.

What a morning to be a space nerd: A triple convergence of space events! At 6:33am, the International Space Station goes right across constellation Orion. Seconds later, to the northeast, the SpaceX rocket goes blasting through the sky, eventually leaving its “jellyfish” plume.

My most core personal Mike Ditka memory has nothing to do with football or SNL. Ten years ago when my now-wife and I first moved in together, we were in our 20s and lived in a tiny apartment. We had different work schedules and the only time we could go to the gym together was super early in the morning, before anything else had a chance to compete for our time. We'd try to get in there around 5:00am, which is insane, because neither of us are especially "morning people." So we would set the alarm for 4:15am, spend a few minutes moaning and groaning about how early it was, and then we'd blast this absolutely ridiculous auto-tuned motivational Mike Ditka rap about personal accountability while we made a pot of coffee and tried to get less groggy. It's completely absurd, but it got us out the door for SO MANY early morning workouts; it became like a ritual for us as we forced ourselves to leave the apartment while it was still dark outside. We are probably half of the views on this thing on YouTube. The neighbors had to absolutely hate us. The funniest part, though, is that we will still randomly quote this to each other even though it's been years and years since it was part of the daily routine. Let's face it: it's quirky and catchy as hell, you can't go wrong with his advice, and you can't not laugh at the insane format it's delivered in. You might wake up tired and grumpy, but you'll make yourself put the work in once you remember that Iron Mike says you have to make sacrifices today for the long-term good.

I’d never leave the house if I had this audience at home.
This dude adopted a rescue hyena and named his Eddie. He videos jokes and Eddie howls with laughter.

So we had a large branch from a big willow tree on our property drop during a storm yesterday. My wife was telling her aunt about it on our text thread and I can’t stop laughing.

Four bucks in velvet were in the meadow below our house yesterday. The big boy was having a raging sneezing attack and I couldn’t stop laughing. He was sneezing so badly he didn’t snort at me & run away like he often does. What does a buck do when he has bad allergies/hay fever?

Dear @WhiteHouse, my name is Rodney Smith Jr., founder of Raising Men & Women Lawn Care Service in Huntsville, Alabama. Through our 50 Yard Challenge, over 6,000 kids across the country have signed up to mow free lawns for the elderly, disabled, veterans, active-duty military, first responders, and single parents. With America celebrating its 250th birthday this year and me also being born on July 4th, I wanted to humbly ask if a few kids from our program and myself could travel to Washington, D.C. to help mow the White House lawn for this historic celebration. More than anything, I want these kids to see how a simple act of service something as ordinary as mowing a lawn for someone in need can lead to extraordinary places. What better lesson in community service than showing them that helping others can take them all the way to our nation’s capital? I’d also love to bring my American flag-themed mower in hopes that the President might sign it, so I can later auction it off and donate 100% of the proceeds to a nonprofit supporting veterans. It would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to highlight the importance of service, patriotism, and the impact young people can have when they choose to make a difference. 🇺🇸

What’s really happening inside endometriosis tissue? New research is giving scientists a clearer look. Magee‑Womens investigators Dr. Nicole M. Donnellan and Dr. David G. Peters are co‑authors on a new study in @OUPAcademic Molecular Human Reproduction that breaks down endometrial samples at the cell level. The research shows that endometriosis tissue has a very different mix of cell types and DNA‑methylation patterns compared to healthy tissue — a hidden “cell signature” that may help explain how the disease develops and why it behaves differently in each person. These insights could one day support earlier detection and better, more targeted treatments for those living with endometriosis. Read more: bit.ly/42gistP #MageeWomens #MWRI #WomensHealth

Give me a starting 22 made up of Pitt’s all-time greatest players, and I’ll beat your all-time team—pro or college—any day of the week. Only real debate: who lines up next to Tony Dorsett in the backfield? #H2P
