Cosmonauts ⚛️
Tomorrow, I’m sitting down with Jae Kwon, the inventor of Tendermint and co-founder of @Cosmos.
The first time we went on air was April 2022, when @_gnoland was still a testnet. Today it has a live mainnet and 3.2M ATOM wallets in its airdrop.
What we’ll cover:
▫️ From Tendermint to Gno.land
▫️ The end goal for Gno.land and gno.world
▫️ Why fork ATOM, and where the Cosmos Hub stands today
▫️ Is Jae building the new Cosmos?
▫️ What ATOM holders should actually do on Gno.land
▫️ Quantum and privacy
What would you ask Jae?
Drop your questions below and the best ones make it into the interview.

Cosmos chains had a strong month.
Over the past 30 days, Celestia is up about 53%, Osmosis 40%, Akash 33% and Injective 10%.
ATOM itself is up about 3%.
I don't see what edge ATOM has as a coin in the institutional era of crypto right now.
Cosmos Labs as an organization might have one, but how that turns into real value for ATOM on-chain is still open.
I still hold some ATOM.

We are pleased to welcome Matthew French, Global Program Manager, Digital Assets at @FranklnTempletn to the Hong Kong Digital Asset Summit.
Asset managers are working through the operational questions behind tokenised funds, from infrastructure to investor access. Matt adds Franklin Templeton’s digital assets programme perspective to the summit’s institutional discussions.
For asset managers, tokenised funds raise questions about investor access, distribution and the infrastructure connecting funds to digital markets. These are central to the summit’s focus on institutional implementation.

PwC joins Cosmoverse Hong Kong 🇭🇰
The strongest room we've ever built keeps getting stronger. Excited to host @PwC at our Hong Kong Digital Asset Summit.
We are pleased to welcome Winnie Cheung, Director in @PwC Hong Kong’s Consulting practice to the Hong Kong Digital Asset Summit.
Winnie has more than 14 years of experience advising financial institutions and digital asset businesses on regulation, licensing, risk and governance. Her work covers stablecoins, custody, tokenisation and trading platforms, bringing a practical view of the controls institutions need to operate in Hong Kong.
A new product needs an operating model, controls and a path through licensing requirements. The summit will examine these practical questions across stablecoin services, custody, tokenisation and trading infrastructure.

If you liquid staked with Stride, read this.
Stride is shutting down its chain.
Redeeming stATOM, stTIA or other stTokens on Stride has been paused since October 12.
From around November 20, you'll be able to swap them back on Osmosis at a fixed rate.
You don't have to do anything right now, because your stTokens don't expire.
They just stop earning rewards once the move is done.
Rob @NewsAsset on the next big thing for crypto: payments with one standard.
In Puerto Rico it goes: do you have this app? No. PayPal? No. Stripe? No. Cash App? Finally.
One QR code that works for everyone. Not sexy, which is exactly why nobody builds their token around it.
$NEAR
Bitwise's NEAR ETF has been trading in the US for three weeks.
As of Saturday, it held about 17.6M NEAR, worth roughly $87M.
That's up from 15.7M NEAR just a week earlier.
It took in $35M on its first day alone.
Bitwise also plans to stake a large part of it, so the fund earns NEAR's staking rewards.
Most of these buyers will probably never open a crypto wallet.
I don't hold NEAR. Stakecito runs NEAR infrastructure.
$STRK
Starknet holders are voting on whether Starknet should research leaving Ethereum to become safer against future quantum computers.
At the weekend the vote stood at 99.95% yes, and it closes on Thursday.
It's not binding, a yes only starts the research.
The price went the other way.
STRK jumped 15% on the day the vote opened and is down about 30% over the past week.
Holders like the plan, traders took their profits.
I don't hold STRK.
$OSMO
The Osmosis proposal to stop printing new OSMO is planned to go up for an on-chain vote this week.
If it passes, stakers get paid only from the fees Osmosis actually earns.
About 51.9M OSMO still reserved for developers would also stop unlocking until the community decides what to do with them.
Earlier this month, Osmosis already voted to send more trading fees to stakers and to cut the validator set to 30.
OSMO is up about 50% this month.
I'll be honest, I was wrong on Osmosis for a long time.
It's still more than 99% below its high, but this is the first real change in months.
Full transparency: I hold OSMO.
$INJ
Three US firms want to launch Injective ETFs: 21Shares, Canary Capital and REX-Osprey.
All three would stake the INJ they hold, so the fund earns rewards on top.
None of them is approved yet.
What interests me more is what Injective already runs today: 135 markets for real-world assets.
That includes BlackRock money market funds and trade invoices from the Korean company POSCO, turned into tokens.
INJ is up about 12% this week.
Full transparency: I hold a small amount of INJ.
Last 30 days:
▫️ celestia:native +50%
▫️ $STRK +47%
▫️ $NEAR +37%
▫️ $SEI +28%
▫️ $AKT +27%
▫️ $OSMO +25%
▫️ $INJ +21%
▫️ $BABY +8%
▫️ $BTC +2%
▫️ cosmos:native +2%
▫️ $MON -11%
Almost all of them beat Bitcoin this month.
Most are still more than 90% below their all-time highs, so this is a bounce, not a new bull market.
I hold TIA, SEI, BABY and OSMO, plus small amounts of INJ, AKT and ATOM.
Why did CLARITY die? Rob @NewsAsset: it fell apart in the Senate, with Elizabeth Warren leading the charge.
The banks' argument: yield on stablecoins drains deposits from small banks, and small banks fund small towns.
Rob's bigger reason: in a midterm year you do not hand the other side a win.
Both can be true. Neither has anything to do with whether the tech works.
About $900M left the US Bitcoin ETFs in the last two weeks.
The Nasdaq also dropped more than 4% last week, and chip stocks fell eight days in a row.
So money is leaving, not coming in.
The few coins that still went up all had their own news, like an ETF filing, a launch or a vote.
$NEAR
Quantum computers could one day break the cryptography that protects most crypto wallets.
Most chains are still writing plans for that.
NEAR already shipped a first answer: you can switch your account to a quantum-safe key without moving your funds to a new wallet.
Last week, Wintermute called NEAR the leader of the AI trade.
I think the quantum work will matter longer.
I don't hold NEAR. Stakecito runs NEAR infrastructure.
$SEI
The first staked SEI ETF could get approved this week.
REX Shares and Osprey Funds set October 23 as the target date for their filing.
The fund would also stake the SEI it holds, so it earns rewards on top.
Even if the date holds, it still needs a listing before anyone can buy it.
Full transparency: I hold SEI.
My altcoin portfolio is still not finished.
Right now I hold TIA, SEI and BABY. I am watching a few others (like MON).
Rebuilding a portfolio after a long bear market takes longer than buying a basket and I am taking my time with it ...
$STRK $NEAR
Quantum security was the theme of the week.
NEAR shipped signatures that can resist quantum computers, Starknet holders are voting on going independent for the same reason and Ethereum is aiming for full quantum resistance by 2029.
The market used to care about speed and fees.
Now it is starting to care about which chains can upgrade their security when it matters.
I missed the Starknet rally (limit order didn't trigger unfortunately) :(
celestia:native
Celestia just launched Eden, a chain built for AI agents that trade and pay each other. Blocks come every 100 milliseconds, and gas is paid in TIA, even when an app covers it for the agent.
The first test is Botfun, a closed beta where agents launch tokens and trade them. Eden briefly ranked among the busiest chains for x402, the payment standard agents use.
So far TIA demand depended on other teams building on Celestia. Eden is Celestia testing whether it can create that demand itself.
Full transparency: I hold TIA and stake it.
"The rich don't sell their assets. The rich hold on to their assets."
Rob @NewsAsset on what Bitcoin loans are for: keep the BTC, use it to buy the things that depreciate.
Most of crypto still treats Bitcoin as the thing you sell to buy a house. Institutions treat it as the thing you keep so you can.
Down from all-time high:
$STRK -98%
celestia:native -96%
$SEI -94%
$BABY -93%
$NEAR -75%
$MON -53%
Most of these had a strong month, but they are still far below where they peaked, which is why most ppl don't trust this rally yet.
I hold TIA, SEI and BABY. I don't hold STRK or NEAR. And I won't touch MON before November 24, when a large part of the locked supply unlocks.
👀
$BABY
About 40,800 Bitcoin [$3.3B] are staked through Babylon.
Babylon has proposed to Aave that people can borrow against their Bitcoin while it stays on the Bitcoin blockchain.
Part of the fees would buy back $AAVE and at 85% to 15%, which would link BABY to actual usage.
It is still a proposal, and the first $500k in yearly fees go fully to Aave.
Full transparency: I hold BABY and Babylon presents Double Down. Not holding any AAVE.
